Pensioned off

James Forsyth 11:12am

Today at Centreright.com, Matthew Elliott flags up a truly shocking fact:

“by 2009, each person working in the private sector will be paying more each month into the pension of a civil servant than they will into their own pension."

An incoming Tory Government has to start the process of levelling out this iniquitous position. Labour will never get to grips with it as we seen with the sacking of Frank Field, the monumental climb-down by Alan Johnson, and the present incumbent having other things on his mind. This has to be the first of the fights with the Unions because the present position is economically unsustainable regardless of the politics.

It is no accident that, despite false claims to the contrary, Both Brown and Blair have deliberately increased both the numbers, powers, perks and privileges of civil servants, to an extent where their self interested voting power seriously distorts our so called "democracratic" election processes.
