As Guido reports, Nick Clegg has accepted the first Lib Dem front-bencher resignation over Europe. No news of who it is, though. How many more will follow?
UPDATE: According to CoffeeHouser, Oscar Miller, Andrew Neil says differently:
"According to Andrew Neil the resignation story put about by Crick is "pants" i.e. not true..."Stay tuned.

March 5th, 2008 5:44pm Report this commentThey were never a proper party, but more of a None Of The Above franchise extended to people representing totally different things in different parts of the country. And their latest goings on are quite beyond deranged. So, is it now all over for them?

March 5th, 2008 7:26pm Report this commentThere is no such thing as a Liberal Democrat "Shadow Cabinet". The term has no constitutional significance, unlike the Shadow Cabinet of the Official Opposition, ie the Conservative Party. There's merely a team of LDs acting as party spokesmen on different subjects. Calling some of them a Shadow Cabinet is just a typical piece of LD grandiose windbagging dishonesty.

March 5th, 2008 8:58pm Report this commentLet me play devil's advocate for a moment: why shouldn't the LibDems (in principle) qualify equally for the title of 'Opposition'? Isn't there any windbagging among some of the Conservatives' 'Shadow Ministers'? Whether any of the opposition parties deserve a title grander than Opposition is, of course, another matter.
