Weekend listening
James Forsyth 7:41pmIf you have any time spare this weekend, do listen to Peter Oborne’s ‘Conserving what?’ series on Conservatism for Radio 4. It is exceptionally good and this week’s episode, based around an interview with David Cameron, is absolutely fascinating for anyone interested in Conservative philosophy. It also gives some intriguing glimpses at what kind of Conservative David Cameron is and how he might govern as Prime Minister.

Its a good plug but Mrs Zrk has tasked me to de-construct some pairs of garden socks. Otherwise I'd be delighted because I know David is strong on principles.

October 23rd, 2009 10:36pm Report this commentI have listened. I like and respect Oborne's writing, but I was horrified at the uncritical way he took every banal, airy generalisation by Cameron (heir to Disraeli, heir to Peel, for God's sake) and turned it into a Weltanschauung.
I'm doing my best to think well of Cameron, but he has little or no sense of history - he's struggling with the 1950s, never mind the 1850s.
Who produced this hagiographical rubbish? Who allowed it to reach the airwaves?

The truth is out
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/lawandorder/6418456/Labour-wanted-mass-immigration-to-make-UK-more-multicultural-says-former-adviser.html
Can we prosecute somebody?
“Sir Andrew Green, chairman of the Migrationwatch think tank, said: “Now at least the truth is out, and it’s dynamite.
“Many have long suspected that mass immigration under Labour was not just a cock up but also a conspiracy. They were right.
“This Government has admitted three million immigrants for cynical political reasons concealed by dodgy economic camouflage.” ”
“The chairmen of the cross-party Group for Balanced Migration, MPs Frank Field and Nicholas Soames, said: “We welcome this statement by an ex-adviser, which the whole country knows to be true.
“It is the first beam of truth that has officially been shone on the immigration issue in Britain.”

For those Coffee Housers who want to hear the complete Oborne interview with Dave go to Guido at order-order.com on Wednesday 21st October to hear it in full.
It really does reinforce how many of us have regarded Dave from the off - as an instinctively temporizing wet who wants in his own words "a more equal, fairer, greener society." In short Dave's is a redistributive, green Tory Party with Dave as a sort of Caroline Lucas without the added socialism - just the added One Nation social democracy.

October 24th, 2009 9:42am Report this commentI think many of Labour's supporters within the extended ethnic community have always understood perfectly well that uncontrolled immigration was part of the plan to boost the size of Labour's natural constituency. Of course, most intelligent voters of whatever hue understand the deceitfulness and folly involved in such policies. That this policy has, as it must have, backfired so spectacularly by inflating the BNP vote is yet another confirmation of New Labour's utter incompetence and institutionalised mendacity.
