Hamming it up

Fraser Nelson 1:14pm

Well, David Cameron has changed politics in this regard: no party leader can give a speech without walking around the stage - at least for a bit.

Over at the Lib Dem Spring Conference, Clegg is hamming it up a bit too much - flapping his hands like he's trying to take off. I'll watching from the best possible vantage point: a cafe, which has the tv on but volume turned down. I'll eat my hat if the text of his speech is half as good as Cable's yesterday. After the self-inflicted humiliation of the EU vote last week, the best Clegg can hope for is damage limitation.

The text of the speach may have been superb. But I didnt notice.I watched the speach open mouthed. It was cringe worthy. He came across as a total wet and a rank bad actor. Maybe Mr Clegg has many qualities but public speaking isnt one of them.

Excellent analysis Fraser. His arm movements were so wierd and brisk that I thought maybe he's got some kind of device under his sleeves that makes them fling out and flail at the push of a button! What a sad and pathetic poser.

I will ask again, what is the point of the Libdems? I don't understand what they do differently or what they stand for that is different from Labour. All they are is a Labour proxy for the votes of those who consider themselves too "intelligent" to vote Labour, but in the end the party always votes with their red comrades on every important issue.

Classic FM news were carrying a soundbite from his speech, for the Lib-Dems, any mention is a triumph of sorts.
