If this is a suspension, what is an expulsion?

Sky’s Jon Craig’s asks one of those questions you wished you had posed: wasn’t Elliot Morley suspended already? Yes, he was, on the 14 May 2009 and with immediate effect. However, showing a fine disregard for the manner in which repeat offenders are usually treated, Labour suspended Morley again for good measure.
Seeking a clarification about the initial suspension, Craig was told that Morley had been denied the ‘privileges of the PLP’. What might they be? Subsidised beer and sandwiches perchance?
The rumour is that Morley was either re-instated on the quiet or had escaped in the first instance, lending more weight to the sense that Labour’s response to the expenses scandal has been hopelessly ill-conceived. Today has been the Tories first decisive and total victory for some while.

February 8th, 2010 6:20pm Report this commentThe corruption of the troughers' sty stinks to high heaven ( it helps that Morley is a dead ringer for a Berkshire Old Spot sow). Now that the Tories have opened a chink in Liebour's armour they must keep chipping away. Bruin has poisoned the body politic.

I wasn't surprised to find that the three Labour MPs who are now claiming Parliamentary privilege all voted against that attempt to affirm and defend the legal supremacy of Parliament.
Presumably they wouldn't raise the same objection to being hauled before a court if it was the European Court of Justice, rather than a British court.

February 8th, 2010 8:10pm Report this commentif Elliot Morley had been suspended, why was he asking questions at PMQ - sadly cannot remember when but it was most definitely AFTER he had been outed for claiming mortgage repayments
What is all this nonsense on Sky News and the Jon Snow news prog whining that Cameron has been making personal attacks on gormless? I saw nothing personal, as they struck me as being an attack on his ability to govern, which is non existent and not on where he went to school - state but very upmarket in Scotland in those days

February 9th, 2010 8:51am Report this commentAs the Lord Mandelson would affirm, within Labour to acknowledge public annoyance is suficient. If suspension or sacking is irresistable then that is what happens. In public. Actually Labour don't believe anyone has the right to tell them what to do. Ask Tony, if the Lord Mandelson doesn't convince you.

February 9th, 2010 9:12am Report this commentThe government's behaviour all through has been that of their belief that they are above the law, and right too.
The behaviour of Gordo the Appalling bears this out, as does that of the accused Labour MPs.
Had they been in a business then they would have been suspended pending investigations, and not been allowed to set foot either in parliament or in their consituency offices.
So that the electorate do not suffer in these circumstances, perhaps there should be some 'locum' civil servants who could man the constituency offices during the suspension and also cover where MP's die in harness?
