Personalising political differences, another issue on which Bercow's views have evolved
James Forsyth 3:08pmJohn Bercow was on the Politics Show this morning decrying ‘personal abuse’ in politics. This appears to be another issue on which Bercow’s views have evolved. Back in 2005, in a Tory leadership contest that was relatively free of personal abuse, Bercow, a Ken Clarke supporter, chose to attack Cameron’s candidacy in personal terms, decrying his “Eton, hunting, shooting and lunch at Whites” background.

March 7th, 2010 5:16pm Report this commentSince the Berk has rejected even more of the trappings of the Speakers Office than Gorbals Mick, why should he then expect to keep the 'right to be re-elected unopposed' as part of his office. Seems to me that the Tories have every right to put up a candidate to contest the seat. The other parties ( I assume it is not just UKIP who are standing)would be equally justified in putting up candidates. It is not as if the Berk was a Tory choice, he was a Labour plant to get up the oppositions nose. I believe their choice was George Young but I am not sure. Even if he is kicked out he will certainly benefit financially from his brief occupation of the Big Chair.

March 7th, 2010 6:14pm Report this commentThis does no more than try to stir up petty issues.
Unfortunately, too many Tories - and no doubt Cameron himself - much prefer to face attacks based on lunches at Whites and an education at Eton than on what really matters - which is their supine acceptance of disastrous levels of harmful and subversive immigration and the surrender of British sovereignty to Europe.

Sacre Bleu: John Stevens, a former Tory MEP and Eurofanatic who left the party, is also standing in Bucks. Hopefully his candidacy will help to fracture Bercow's vote and aid Nige since UKIP voters are unlikely to vote for Stevens.
Bercow's ludicrous and hypocritical attack on Farage shows that he is beginning to panic abt holding his seat. Go, Nige, go!

Previously they were represented by the de haut en bas George Walden and the crook Robert Maxwell.

Lord Tebbit Challenges backing for Speaker John Bercow....
'Conservatives should be free to vote for whoever they like in Speaker John Bercow's Buckingham seat'..
quote
Lord Tebbit BBC Sunday 07 March 2010.
Thank God for Lord Tebbit's honesty instead of PC Dave's and the Conservative Central Office hypocrisy! Everybody knows that Bercow hasn't been a 'Conservative or held traditional conservative values' for at least the last seven years; he has just managed to do a very good job in keeping his trendy 'ultra liberal values' (that he discovered on his 'journey of enlightenment') out of the Buckinghamshire local press and well hidden from Buckinghamshire's traditional Conservative voters; who it seems only see 'little chirpy John'... the hard working constituency MP; not 'John the ultra liberal' and very close friend to his New Labour and Lib Dem chums.
Has he ever been a man of principle or conviction? It seems in recent years his politics and values have been that of an ambitious self seeking opportunist, changing with every favourable wind.
Well Done Lord Tebbit for saying it as it is; let's hope the 'non trendy liberals... 'i.e. the traditional Conservatives of Buckingham receive your message in time...(that's if it is not censored by the local press).
