An issue for debate

Peter Hoskin 2:47pm

A quick post to recommend ConservativeHome's list of which political debates the left and right are winning in the UK.  Among the right's triumphs are crime, welfare and schools reform.  And among the left's are tax & spend, the NHS and climate change.  Do CoffeeHousers agree?

No. The left is slowly but surely losing all these arguments, with the possible exception of climate change. It is certainly losing the plot on 'tax and spend'.

I agree with Trumpeter (there's a surprise!) and disagree with you, Peter.

I don't think most Labourites believe in the climate change meme and even if they do, I don't think they give a toss. Cutting down teak in Indonesia just can't compete with council taxes and petrol prices at the pump, or the disgraceful shambles the socialists have made of education and their abandonment of the streets to criminals and wasters.

Going to be difficult for any Daveist Tory to take serious issue with this list. Nitpick maybe, but overall what a coruscating condemnation of the spineless, conviction-free Blue Labour Tory Party, Dave has given those of you who think of yourselves as conservatives. On the other hand, the Tory SocDems among you will, no doubt, be delighted. Dave is successfully, as he always set out to do, burying thatcherism and conservatism.
