Someone really doesn't like Douglas Alexander

James Forsyth 3:43pm

Last Sunday, The Observer suggested that Douglas Alexander’s political career was effectively over after a falling out with the Prime Minister. This Sunday brings another anti-Alexander briefing with The News of the World reporting that he’s been dubbed ‘worst minister ever’ at DFID and that when the cabinet split up into break out groups, a Stephen carter innovation, Alexander was the last to be picked.

The string of stories in recent days about divisions within the Brown camp shows that the tensions between the old Brownites and the new Carter-recruited team are a potentially lethal threat to Brown’s premiership. But the briefing against Alexander seems more likely to be a product of tensions amongst those who have been with Brown for a long time.

These private feuds going public all adds to the feeling that the Brown government is stumbling, directionless and on the way out. If Brown is to fight his way back, he’ll need to restore internal discipline first.

What's DFID for God's sake? I can't keep up with all these acronyms. Whatever happened to the Board of Trade?

It's good to see this incompetent and useless government falling apart.

It would be good to get rid of them before they can do too much damage to the country.

Never mind the 'Ooooohh . . . you bitch' stuff . . . he only looks a child . . . and the (real rather than imaginary) experience that equips him for a post in or at DFID is . . . ?

This behaviour is absurd, and disgraceful.
Briefings against colleagues, public gossip, badmouthing rivals. I don't want a government run by a bunch of posturing teenagers.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a Cabinet of confident adults, each with a basis of real-world experience, who want to get on with the job instead of positioning and worrying about whether didagreements with the PM would end their career?
Well, that's my Sunday fantasy. On Monday I'll have to face reality again.

Someone?

er, Someone?

No,

Everyone!

This man has the physical attributes and the mental capacity of a petulant schoolboy. When did he form the impression that he is, somehow, a Minister of State?

I'm surprised it's taken them this long to realise what Dougie is really like.

Isn't it marvellous to see these dopes fall apart? Happy days are here again.

"Last to be picked" - that is funny. Did they all line up against the wall like little boys playing football in the playground? Who were the captains? Did one group have to brainstorm in skins?
PS. Douglas Alexander is David Muir's favourite politician...

Douglas Alexander is my MP and a more decent and astute man you will never meet.
