No sweat

James Forsyth 11:55am

The leaders will be allowed to use their own make-up artists tonight. This might sound like a trivial detail but how the leaders look is, sadly, going to be an important factor in who gets the most benefit from the debate.

I expect that the big beneficiary from being allowed to use his own make-up team will be Cameron. As his Newsnight interview during the 2005 leadership contest - when Cameron used his own not Newsnight's make-up artists and as a result looked far better than David Davis had the week before - showed, the Cameron Team appreciate the importance of these details.

Anyone know the heights of the three?

This is not trivial is it? Sure? How i'd like to see all three kidnapped on the way to the circus and made to face an audience of angry voters picked at random, not selected by TV gatekeepers, with no bubble to protect them, and probably in electric chairs controlled by me to be shocked every time they fail to answer satisfactorily. A girl can dream.

"The leaders will be allowed to use their own make-up artists"

Jesus wept.

One of these men will have his finger on the nuclear button at the end of all this - yet someone somewhere deems it necessary to allow them to make their own choice about make-up.

Any leader worth their salt would do what the hell they liked.

Apparently, Cameron is 6'0" and Brown is 5'10".

Google has failed me on the question of Nick Clegg's height. Presumably nobody cares.

Will Brown be allowed to wear his corset?

Roger Daley

I doubt if Brown is 5'10 - That's probably a "Hollywood" tape measure.

Mind you if he had a neck he might be six foot.

"i'd like to see all three kidnapped on the way to the circus and made to face an audience of angry voters picked at random,"

All that would happen is that you'd end up with an extremely partisan audience, cheering their guy, and jeering the others.

One of the issues for Brown may be pharmaceutical.

Do his caring professionals administer equine-size doses of what Private Eye calls his “bonkerzoid” tablets to avoid a florid outbreak of mania and hideous sequential ‘smiling’ or do they keep him clean and catatonic?

I’d be inclined to spike his water with viagra and senna pods: he won’t know whether he’s coming or going.

As I have said below on Daniels' 'don't be Angry' blog, he should take advantage and put some grey in his temples - and I would add some 5 o'clock shadow on his chin would help!

Sorry, Fats, you are on a loser with this one.

Whatever our political differences I think we can all agree that in the looks stakes, Bruin looks a cross between a corpse that has started to change from grey to green and the sweepings from Dr Frankenstein's lab floor after a failed attempt to stitch a human being together. He's a weird freak.

Brown was once photographed with a great orange patch on his forehead. I am sure he will not want to repeat that mistake.

General Zod - I assume that, like Clegg's policies, his height is whatever the focus groups want it to be.

Did anyone see Bruin commentating on the libdem manifesto last night? A reanimated corpse would have looked healthier, he looked grey and I'll. Doesn't bode well for the next Few weeks

Fatloke on Tour - Your posts have all the coherence of a speech by John Prescott. My advice, young man, to you is to load your ample paunch into a wheelbarrow and exit stage left. And tiptoe over the floorboards: they are creaking beneath your elephantine bulk. Now begone.

General Zod

Brown hasn't a hope. He is incapable of looking like a normal, living human being on TV. His only natural facial expressions are grimaces and he has no idea what to do with his hands. If he doesn't wear the corset, then he looks like a full black bin bag.

The tractor statistics and desperate repetition of "Ashcroft" will not help.

What chance now that Brown yaps on about “Ashcloud”. The rumour round here is that the Icelanders waited for a Northerly and donated a device in one of their volcanoes in revenge against Brown and his use of anti-terror laws against their banks.

Gordon has chosen to stand with the other two on his right due to his blind left eye and thus Cameron is in the middle. This is a winning position whether people are aware of it or not. Own goal by Brown. Idiot.
