The Bank cuts interest rates

Peter Hoskin 1:34pm

As widely predicted, the Bank of England has cut UK interest rates today - from 5.25 percent to 5 percent.  Will it make much difference for your average Joe?  I wouldn't count on it.  As Fraser's already said, one of the key features of this slump is that interbank interest rates have detached from the main rates.  That makes it unlikely that many lenders will pass the BoE's cut onto their customers.
