David Cameron's father has died
James Forsyth 3:54pm
Sad news today, Ian Cameron has died. The Prime Minister was with his father at the end, having flown out to France with his brother and sister from City airport this morning. His father’s
cheerfulness and determination in the face of his disability has long been cited by friends of Cameron as one of the key influences on his character.
In a sign of how quickly the Cameron family has experienced the joy of new life and the sadness of the end of a life, Ian Cameron had not met his latest granddaughter when he died.
Here is the Downing Street statement:
Our condolences to the Prime Minister and his family."It is with deep regret we can confirm that Ian Cameron died earlier this afternoon. He passed away shortly after the Prime Minister arrived at the hospital in France where he was undergoing treatment."

Is anyone in the government going to take them on? The bias has become quite breathtaking since they openly campaigned against the Torys in the General Election and were allowed to get away with it.

It's desperately sad he didn't get to see his new grand-daughter.

September 8th, 2010 6:25pm Report this commentI do agree with canonalberic. Andrew Neil and his sidekick were over the top. Poor old Harman has been fully briefed yet she cannot ask questions, etc. etc. They were implying that David Cameron chickened out and used his father's "illness" as an excuse. Quite disgraceful. I have thought that Neil was a breath of fresh air in BBC political broadcasting. Today he showed he was part and parcel of the whole rotten crowd.
Yet, never forget that the Coalition had a Minister in the studio who said nothing! Looking at the way both his hands were in a tight fist throughout and his staring eyes showed the viewer that the poor fellow was scared witless. He was the governments man whose brief includes the BBC!!!!!
It is time this nonsense of a state broadcaster, a supposed public service broadcaster be brought to an end. It is beyond a joke now and if the Director General had any guts he would sack the whole news journalism team from top to bottom. Instead of having news broadcasts just put on another cookery programme! Nobody will miss BBC News.

You are despicable.
What's your definition of 'over priveledged' (sic) and 'a ripe old age'?

Then answer those two very simple questions - if you dare.
As to my politics - you really know nothing.

Poor man.

September 8th, 2010 11:45pm Report this commentIt is a very sad time for the family. However David Cameron can take some consolation that his father lived long enough to see his son become Prime Minister. So many people, having risen high in life, regret that their parents didn't live long enough to enjoy their offspring's success, eg Margaret Thatcher's father.

I find it interesting that both Farage and Hannan 2 of the most ardent Eurosceptics are MEPs. They must see a lot wrong with the EU from close up which flavours their opinions.
