The return of drama and rebellion?

Fraser Nelson 6:05pm

Apparently Brown (or, more likely, Carter) didn't think the PMQs performance leant itself to the right kind of footage for the evening news. So political editors are being summoned to interviews with the Dear Leader in a more respectful setting.

Great atmosphere in the Commons. Labour MPs mainly relieved it's all over, some annoyed Field caved too early. But as I said earlier, now that the rebels have learned that the laddie is for turning, they will now turn him over regularly. Drama and rebellion will return to the Palace of Varieties. And not before time.

I would prefer that 'we', the voting public had the chance to 'turn New Labour' out of power, for several decades, preferably.

What? This place is more and more like China by the day... the government decides how the media reports them...it's crazy! The Labour party need not spend a penny (or 10p) on PR, they get it all from the mainstream media...

But so what, Cameron and Co don't make the obvious points, in this case: Instead of a simple and cheap Uturn, we have a complicated, hire another 100 civil servants Uturn. Would Cameron be different? Most of us think not, so why bother changing?

Did anyone see Frank Field on Hardtalk? I was a great admirer of him but honestly he was like a broken man and full of praise for Brown! against all he said before. The so called deal seems to amount to little more than a vague promise to look at it further. I think someone has applied the thumbscrews to poor Frank, it was a pretty pathetic interview.

What precisely have the rebellious MP's gained just over 1/2 million people might get payments backdated and over 4 million ignored. A poor day for Democracy and Frank Filed has sunk in my opinion - boot the whole damn lot out.......

If the 10p tax removal decision was wrong a year ago why was it not picked up by the Opposition & all the other MPs. If it is right now, restore it. What a Government does or has to do is more important than its ego. But is it right? Was it ever right? Reducing MPs Pay & Allowances would be right. They could then operate from the high moral ground against all inequalities of Income,Wealth, & Taxation
