Can Boris run London?

Peter Hoskin 8:56am

Can Boris run London? That's the question that Matthew answers with a resounding “Yes!” in the latest issue of the Spectator. His article's just been uploaded to the website, so check it out here. Do you agree with Matthew? Have your say – and discuss all matters mayoral – in the comments section.

Of course Boris can run London and I feel that he will be an excellent Mayor.

I would urge the people of London to help get him there by voting for him on May 1st.

So would I. Voting for Boris is a moral matter. Do you go for vision and risk-taking and all those AMERICAN virtues. Or are you just a miserable lefty Brit?

His first official act should be to rescind the Olympics, and save the London taxpayers, who never asked for this clapped out steroid circus, £20bn (or whatever the latest grotesque figure is). Tony Blair will have to find the perfect backdrop for his ego elsewhere.

Verity, have you heard of breach of contract?

We need to consider just what a politician’s role is in our system. They should be dealing with policy not management.
When you last dealt with a lawyer you almost certainly did not come away thinking,”That is just the person to run a multi-million pound project such as the Millennium Dome…”
Johnson needs to employ good managers and not be afraid to get rid of them if projects go wrong.
Our political class now has virtually no experience of senior management of large organisations or projects prior to election. We should not have unrealistic expectations of what they are capable of.
