The Labour implosion

James Forsyth 2:22pm

Ben Brogan reports that just to make things even worse for Labour, the incoming General Secretary has resigned. Meanwhile, even Jackie Ashley is saying that Brown only has until the party conference to sort himself out. Somewhere, Cherie Blair is laughing her head off.

"Cherie Blair is laughing her head off" - surely you mean, cackling maniacally? And you have just spoiled my afternoon tea by making me think of that disgusting gold-digger.

Learn this Mr Brown. The country doesn't like you, the country doesn't want you, the country didn't vote for you. Now lead your party into a general election - and sooner rather than later please so that we may soon see you lead your rotten government out of parliament and into the forgotten pages of history.

It would indeed be a noble thing to now declare a general election - he might at least salvage something of a reputation as being decent ....

I guess it is unlikely eh?
