The next round

James Forsyth 4:36am

I’m out in North Carolina for the next few days for the latest instalment in the Hillary and Obama show. North Carolina is the biggest state still to vote and of Obama can wrap up a big victory here he would make it pretty much impossible for Hillary to get ahead of him in any measure of the popular vote and if Hillary can’t do that she won’t win the nomination.

I'll be reporting on the last days of campaigning over on Americano. To start, here's my take on why Obama has been so rocked back on his heels these past few weeks.

Obama is just too supercilious to win the presidency. Americans like informal affability.

Austin Barry - I agree. He's an elitist, like John Kerry, and he talks down to people. Did you read the speech Mrs Ticked-Off gave in which she said (along the lines of, from memory) "Barack will not let you be complacent. Barack will not let you forget the issues. Barack will not let you ...)etc. As in, "you are too stupid and morally illiterate to make your own decisions about what you care about, but Barack will net you know". Plus she said she'd never been proud to be an American before Obama decided he wanted to be president. And she makes $300,000 a year doing a non-job in the "diversity" industry.

A lot of people do not like this smug, officious pair.

After this Rev Wright made another blunder and it was announced that Obama had finally thrown him under the bus, a commenter over on Little Green Footballs asked, "Yes, but was it under the front of the bus?"

Someone else wrote in and, referring to Obama's white grandmother who he had trashed earlier, said, "Yes, but he threw a white woman in front of the bus ahead of him."

So Obama is coming in for some ridicule now.

My feeling is that there is some hostility to him building up, but if he loses the nomination - fingers crossed - he has the handy scapegoat of racism to blame it on. Not himself or his wife.

I don't like Hillary because I don't like Democrats, but I am rooting for her in S Carolina.
