More than half of Labour voters want Brown to quit
James Forsyth 9:24pm
The new Populus poll for The Times is going to stoke the mood of panic inside the Labour party. It finds that 55 percent of Labour voters want Brown to go and gives the Toryies the largest lead they have had, 11 points, in the history of the poll. To add to Labour’s woes, only 30 percent of voters trust Brown and Darling most with the economy.
It is still extremely unlikely that Brown will be forced out. But the slew of bad news for Brown is going to lead to ever more vocal dissent within the Labour party.

May 6th, 2008 10:35pmI've spotted another Brownie - this one from 10 Downing Street's website - "The new Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP, came to power after a party leadership election in June 2007." What election was that exactly?

May 7th, 2008 2:17amThe Labour blogosphere is hilarious to watch at the moment. Half of them think the answer to Broon's problem is more hard-left socialism, and the rest think that they just need to be lying and spinning more effectively to get out of trouble. They have learnt absolutely nothing.
I think Cameron will get 49% of the vote in 2010 and Labour will be down to about 100 MPs. This is the last-ever Labour government.
Broon is probably telling himself that it's OK if 55% of Labour voters want him out. He only got 24% of the poll so 55% of that is only about 13%. He will just assume that other 87% want him to stay.
And then he will do that weird thing with his jaw, the freak.

May 7th, 2008 11:02amInherent liars carry an extra flaw : they lie to themselves.
Ultimately this mutates into a primary delusion.
Highly resistant, such delusions only, if ever, respond to hard doses of reality.
Looks like the Supreme Leader has an enduring problem.
My chief concern is that he’s taking others with him.
