The right man for tough times?

Laura Staples 12:46pm

With Mervyn King waving goodbye to the “nice decade”, Gordon Brown’s been hitting the airwaves to convince us that he’s the man to steer us through the tough times. As he put it: “I can steer this economy through difficult times … I have done it before and I can do it again”.

Um is it just me, or did Brown do a lot to get us into this mess in the first place? Well, no actually, it’s not just me. People are turning against Brown over the economy at an astonishing pace. They’re no longer prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt, and that’s why his latest pleas will fall on deaf ears.
