See you on Monday

Peter Hoskin 10:53am

Normally, Coffee House prides itself on being the cafe that never sleeps. But now, after four years — and a particularly furious recent few weeks — we're taking a weekend break to cool our typing fingers and our keyboards.

Normal service will, of course, resume on Monday. In the meantime, you can either use this post as an open thread, or head over to the CoffeeHousers' Wall.

I know you guys like cricket, Pete, but a shut down to watch England bowl out India is a bit indulgent ;)

Let's hope the blogger-journos come back refreshed and with a bit of perspective, and that "normal service" doesn't mean another torrent of Hackgate tittle-tattle.

But i wonder if they'll resist the temptation to blog about Mirror group now being firmly implicated.

good weekend to have off. The odd goings on in Norway, the FIFA thing and winehouse dying.
FIFA and Winewhouse were going to happen sometime, but the norway thing is very strange.

Ironically, it's not exactly been a slow news weekend so far, has it?

Put this on the Wall by mistake
The news is terrible. The killings Norway, the UK nurse accused of murdering her patients, in the US the discovery of a man who kept 11 corpses in his apartment, Amy Winehouse dead, on and on it goes. I said it is like an evil spirit is afoot, a devil. Does anybody recall the film "The Omen"? Well this latest news from the BBC website really gave me the shivers. Think I'd better stop reading and listening to world events.

Very odd - so in fact you're not the "cafe that never sleeps!"
Are you cutting back on staff ??

Very sensible indeed, Pete, in fact I recommend thinning back weekend posts to one day's worth only.

Personally, I would welcome a general reduction 7 days, just too much Coffee House at times.

I'd say there is a danger they won't restart on Monday. Th Test match is just too absorbing.
