Is Cameron dyeing his hair?

James Forsyth 12:43pm

Iain Martin moves the Cameron hair story along over at Three Line Whip. Iain suggest that we hacks might have been wrong to concentrate on the parting and should instead have been examining the absence of any grey hairs.
Iain writes:

'Any use of hair dye was initially vigorously denied but when I asked again at a later date I was told not to be so silly and urged to focus instead on the serious issues – which in my book is politician’s code for ‘this is true, but a little embarrassing.’

Cameron would be far from the first politician to resort to the use of dye but you can expect plenty of chortling in Westminster over this news. And yes, I think we can declare the silly season started.

PS The photos above, the top one taken on May 2nd and the lower one on May15th, do suggest a slight darkening in recent weeks. But I shall leave it to other more expert than myself to adjudge whether dye has been applied.

It's probably some dye to cover his bald patch or something. First we saw through his hair then we saw through him. See this:

"Political analysts had a field day about why Dave Cameron's hair parting has shifted from right to left. Was it a metaphor for the new direction of the Conservative Party, or an attempt to modernise his image with the flattening of the Etonian quiff? Having seen Cameron at a function recently, I can tell you the real reason. The youthful Tory leader is losing the one distinct advantage he had over his three predecessors - Michael Howard, Iain Duncan Smith and William Hague. His hair is thinning." Andrew Pierce, The Torygraph, 17 March 2007.

Well, it’s his life, to do with what he wants.

But for the rest of us, oh G*d, - please no more amateur dramatics, dressing up, and poncing about by a Beloved Leader. Haven’t we had our fill, and more, of the previous, and now present encumbrances and their image making? Just the genuine article please. That means, unembellished, authentic.

Afterthought : this isn’t some little scheme by Tamsin is it?

Of course he is. He's about six months younger than me and I have plenty of (undyed) grey hair and so do all my contemporaries.

It's not that silly a story either - the press chased Blair on this for many years

When you read tripe like this, you realise that we get the politicians we deserve.

Trivia and a sense of fun are qualities I like, but this post misses the target.
Get on with the really serious stuff; where does Cameron buy his socks?

As long as the dye doesn’t run from my Twenty and fifty pound notes, I couldn’t care less if Cameron dyed his hair Green, although a Sid Rotten look might suit him and the country better,
Welcome to State Britain.

Lets hope Cameron's got some substance on the inside and not worry too much about the hair on the outside, just remind him to do his eyebrows also, otherwise the colour difference really begins to show ;)

Just as the recourse to hair dye said something about the vanity and triviality of Blair so does this, if true, about Dave. The heir in every showbizz respect it would begin to seem.

No.

If he was going to dye his hair, he wouldn't pick that shite colour.

I watch PMQs on CSPAN on Sunday nights. Evidently there's been a recess for a couple of weeks, but it was back last night. I thought there was something different about Cameron's hair this week - more bouffant at the front, for sure, but I also thought I detected a glossier, more full bodied sheen to it. I surmised either a recent dye job or a new (and far superior) conditoner.

Brown's hair was the usual greasy-looking mop.

Who the hell cares?

Yeah TGFUKIP, I take it your darling Kilroy's hair coulour is what all politicians should be aiming for: senile silver. Or maybe it's good old IDS and Hague's lack of hair that you prefer?
