June 17th, 2008 11:39am Report this commentWhat's more when the French and Dutch voted No to the Constitution, Blair abandoned a referendum here because there was nothing to ratify. The Constitution was dead. The same is now the case with the Lisbon Treaty. It's only the refusal of the Euro-elites to understand how democracy works or their determination to ignore the law which is making them ignore this. The European project has reached the regrettabl position where people are being forced to choose between "Europe" (as currently constructed) or democracy.

It would do well to debunk this myth perpetuated by politicians that they are somehow 'better' than everybody else.
You can witness this behaviour every day of the week.
You stop a small child reaching for the sweets, only to turn around
a short time later to see the child reaching out again while they think you weren't looking.
The Eurofanatics know there are rules. Rules that were bought and paid for in blood. But they still seek to ignore them, and in doing so they imperil us all.

June 17th, 2008 3:55pm Report this commentThomas, so the treaty (has anyone actually read the blessed thing?) states that in the event that one member state fails to ratify the ratification process in the other member states stops at that point does it? I doubt it somehow.

It states quite explicitly that in order to come into force it has to be ratified by all 27 signatories.
That is why they wanted to prevent us having a referendum here. Fortunately they were unable to prevent a referendum in Ireland and anyway it didn't seem to matter because they were sure the Irish would behave like good little europeans, but just to be sure back in February they did pass a motion in the EU parliament promising to ignore the outcome of the referendum, or more accurately I think they failed to pass a motion promising to respect it, which is not quite the same thing.
What that means is that ratification no longer has any meaning since the treaty by law cannot come into force.
However our self-styled lords and masters seem determined to cock a snook at the legal aspects of it, and the whole thing could get very messy.
