Harriet Harman's home should be protected

James Forsyth 11:57am

I think the idea of Harriet Harman as Prime Minister is ridiculous but she is a member of the Cabinet and would probably be the PM if Gordon fell under the proverbial bus. So, we should all be concerned about the frequency with which Fathers for Justice are able to climb onto her roof. It is a rather worrying statement about the level of protection afforded her that Fathers for Justice have for the second time in little over a month gained access to the roof of her house.

Now, I can already hear people saying that it is a harmless protest. But what worries me is that the police are unaware of these incidents until they are informed of them. For good or ill, Harman must—until the next election or a change in the Labour leadership—be regarded as an integral part of any plan for continuity in government in the event of an attempt to decapitate Her Majesty’s Government. In the light of this, her current levels of protection are clearly inadequate.

Funny though.

I can't for the life of me see why Harriet Harman would cut a more ridiculous figure as Prime Minister than Jack Straw. What makes Straw better? What has that man ever done which we can applaud. AND he's got a face like a wet haddock.

Harpic Harridan as PM would lose Labour the next 3 general elections in a row. Bring it on!

As to Fathers for Justice: they are protesting about a real iniquity. Whether or not the police are acting effectively, that's another matter, which is between them and Ms Harpic.

No, it's not. We pay for the the police and we expect them to protect us all. if they don't then it is a matter for us all.

Fathers for justice are a vile organisation, too.

Gosh, it doesn't bother me a bit. Harpic Harridan is not an integral part of anything. She serves no purpose. She's another part of the Nomenklatura. Another self-regarding passenger in the first class compartment of the gravy train.

Ms Harridan already seems to get more protection than any other MP. Don't forget, when she visits her own constituency, she has a police guard and is kitted out in Kelvar. That's how important she imagines herself to be.

She's a fat, squishy, smug, greedy individual with a completely unjustified sense of entitlement. I don't care if Fathers For Justice abseil down her chimney and dump her - doubtless extremely hearty - breakfast over her head.

I disagree. Trespass is not a criminal offence; nor is getting dressed in silly clothes and behaving stupidly. There is absolutely no evidence that HH was at risk. The police's primary job is to protect us, the public, from the very real risks which surround us. I want the police visible in the areas where my teenage children are e.g. parks, cinemas, shopping centres etc not protecting a Cabinet Minister from a legitimate protest.

the only thing the hairman needs protecting from is her mouth, she opens it and the result is plainly obvious

Certainly Ms Harman could do with a few watchtowers, barbed-wire fencing, searchlights, guards with machine guns, sharks in moats and guard dogs prowling around her dwelling. Just to stop her getting out, you understand.
