Can Obama seal the deal this week?
James Forsyth 5:24pm
It is hard to overstate the importance of how Obama’s world trip plays back home. As Mike Allen speculates the result of the election might be clear after the trip. If Obama can clear the Commander in Chief bar it is hard to see what stops him winning in a political environment that so favours Democrats.
Things have got off to a pretty good start for Obama who is currently in Afghanistan. The Iraqi Prime Minister has suggested in a pre-trip interview that Obama is right that US troops can be withdrawn from Iraq in 16 months. However, US generals are set to tell him that a fixed time table for withdrawal is a bad idea.
Perhaps, the key test for Obama is how he comes off meeting US commanders and troops in Iraq. If he looks like he is listening and leading then he is on solid ground. But if there is suggestion that he thinks he knows better than they do, then there could be a problem for him.

Just a reminder, we elect presidents, we don't have coronations for them, and not before the elections. The only poll that matters is the one on Nov. 4th, the rest are just candy for the press core.
Obama couldn't beat Hilliary in how many of the last 10 DEMOCRATIC primaries? How many of the crucial swing states did he beat Hilliary in the DEMOCRATIC primary?
My advice, go slow on the coronation...
