Breakfast briefing

Fraser Nelson 9:15pm

Spotted: Alastair Campbell tucking into a full Scottish breakfast in the Crutherland House Hotel in East Kilbride – a mere 20 minutes drive from the Glasgow East constituency. Coincidence?

Why all the secret visits?

Could it be connected with the unions?

They are still strong up here and can have a huge influence on a workforce feeling insecure in this current financial climate.

Perish the thought, but could Labour be buying votes, again?

All Labour needs, on a day when Margaret Thatcher expresses support for the Prime Minister and James Purnell's Benefit Reform is to be trialed in Glasgow, is the BBC' favourite son on the streets.

Out of interest, if Campbell is brokering agreements between the Unions and Downing St, is it traceable and accountable?

Just a thought?

Fraser this is way off topic but it has something to do with the upcoming by election. Much is made about the fact that the Tory advance stops at the border and how Cameron does not resonate north of the border but I wonder does Clegg. Whilst you lot are always banging on about how Scots don't like a Tory Toff little has been said about Nick Clegg. What is support for him like in Scotland? Does he 'resonate'? After all he is Cameron lite and a English Public school boy. I would like to know your thoughts on this.

I just tried the link. Google says 'We could not understand the location g75 oqz'. I have to admit, neither can I.

But anywhere where Campbell manifests himself should be regarded as Mars - the planet, not the deep-fried sweetmeat so beloved of the inhabitants, of course.

'...Why all the secret visits?...'

Because that's the ZaNuLabour way.

Shady deals in dark corners by dodgy characters.

Fraser, how does a full Scottish vary from a full English? This is particularly important because I shall be holidaying for a week in D&G in August, and I should hate to confuse the two Fruhstucke.

@ Frank Pulley.

Ah yes! How could it ever have slipped my memory? Once tasted never forgotten - to my chagrin.

And whilst we're at it I think I'll try some of that Guacamole dip....
