Ever fibbed on your CV?

Laura Staples 2:51pm

Have you ever told a porky on your CV? If the answer is yes, you may well have studied an arts degree in a somewhat-less-than Redbrick institution. According to a new survey, graduates from the UK’s top 20 universities are less likely to lie on a CV to get a good job. But graduates from the lowest ranked schools are much more likely to bend the odd truth. The survey, conducted by pre-employment screening firm Powerchex, found that 43 per cent of applicants from the lowest ranking universities had some form of major embellishment hidden in their application, compared to just 14 per cent of applicants from the best schools. Oh, and if you studied arts and humanities instead of maths or finance, that makes you more likely to be creative in your CV too.
