Darling makes sense backwards

James Forsyth 6:50pm

Melissa Kite has a quite brilliant post up on Three Line Whip about the nonsense government ministers have been spouting as they attempt to defend the Prime Minister.

Mr Darling goes on: "He has a very clear sense of direction where he believes we as a country ought to go."

Again, he misses the point which is surely that this sentence would make much more sense if it was turned the other way around: Britain has a very clear sense of the direction it believes Gordon Brown ought to go.

Do read the whole thing.

I watched Herr Braun's wooden attempt at Warwick to emulate DC's effortless "no lectern, no notes, walk around the stage" delivery with increasing scorn. Farcical. The transparency of the imitation and the kindergarten enthusiasm of the Labour great and good (I use the words advisedly) in the front row was ludicrous. It is getting quite difficult to watch these pompous, disenfranchised, unpopular, Grade A morons taking themselves so seriously.

As for "getting on with the job". Ha!

It's not just Gordon we are sick of - the whole country is sick of the whole government.

The Policy Forum speech was classic Gordon, was it not? The forced "sea urchin" grin, managing to trip as he got out of his seat, and the anecdote about 10 kids from "Runcurn" who wanted to be lawyers etc.

(we were all "poor" but wanted to be professional footballers at school , we never thought such aspiration was given to us by Harold Wilson though.)
