Rod Liddle takes on green taxes

11:43am

In this week’s magazine, Rod Liddle provides a brilliantly acerbic take on the Government’s green agenda.  Here’s the bottom line:

“The truth is, I suspect, that you can ‘prove’ almost any old rubbish to be environmentally sound or otherwise — the science is so inexact and so open to manipulation. This isn’t an excuse for doing nothing, but it is a good reason for suspecting the motives of any and all politicians when they use the word ‘green’. It is beginning to be seen as a gigantic con perpetrated against the very people who can least afford it.”.

They're not green taxes, just Brown taxes.

If I were a real 'green' activist I would be extremely worried by the actual damage done to environmental causes being done by the both the doomsayers (Porrit and Monbiot etc) and the new taxes being imposed as a result of their lobbying.

These are exposing themselves in such things as the stupidity of subsidised investment in wind power (four times the cost of carbon based power) and such things as 'climate change levy's' and VED increases, not one penny of which are to be spent on energy conservation - the one thing that we would all willingly go along with.

As someone concerned about the environment who does not buy into hurd instincts Liddle has highlit the very problem - we are being conned by idiots dressing themsleves up in green and it can only be bad for real concerns that need addressing.

Let's face it, who be in the slightest bit interested in what the likes of Monbiot, Porrit or Tony Juniper had to say about anything if it wasn't for their rabid support of returning us all to the stone ages. Heck, you can add St Al of Gore to that list.

Bunch of self promoting opportunists.

Brilliant piece Rod; I don't believe in any of this 'Green' rubbish.

As for climate change, ozone layer etc and the rest of the nonsense; its a fact that the planet has heated up and cooled down many times over millions of years and will continue to do so no matter what.

As far as I am concerned, its just another way to bleed more and more money (taxes), out of us all under the guise of 'Go Green and Save the Planets'. It a load of old cobblers
