Hillary's brother meets with McCains victory chair
James Forsyth 3:09pm
This’ll set tongues wagging: Hillary Clinton’s younger brother met with Carly Fiorina, the chair of the Republican party’s Victory 2008 committee, at a private gathering in Pennsylvania. The event was hosted by the national director of the Citizens for McCain coalition.
In the grand scheme of things this isn’t that important, but it re-injects the Clintons into the story at a time that Barack Obama is perceived to be struggling. (The story is, predictably, going crazy on the internet). Although Obama still leads in most polls his advantage is a narrow one, one poll today even has McCain up by five, and there are a few grumblings out there about his performance.
The consolation for Obama is that with his VP pick and the Democratic convention, he has a chance to bounce back. But it says something about the state of the race that Joe Klein, a pro-Obama columnist, is telling people not to be surprised if McCain has a solid lead in mid-September.

Carly (Carleton) Fiorina needs to be vetted by the media. What a piece of work. The McCain campaign has apparently decided that her best and highest use is to pull a stupid prank, aimed directly at the women of America (whom they obviously believe are also stupid).
Why has the media in America gone for this phony bologna.
Women have always been each other's worst enemy in the very real struggles for equal and basic civil rights, and in the everyday world of living where loyalty and talking out problems don't seem to be our strong suit. Not that men don't fight dirty, it's just a different type of "dirty". They can often shake hands and walk away.
We all have a story or two about a backstabbing "friend" or female co-worker that deliberately worked to bring you down whether it's a personal relationship or a work situation. Usually, it was to impress some guy, or to sabotage legit competition. Fiorina is obviously trying to impress McCain and the boy's club of the neo-con right. It's insulting and false, just like all the rhetoric we've been fed by this bunch for 8 years.
First, no woman that ever believed in Hillary Clinton's message or candidacy (like myself) would, or could, ever support John McCain. There are no common threads.
According to the RNC’s reasoning, women are so shallow and immature in their reasons to vote for a candidate that we would actually throw a hissy fit and vote for someone that does not represent our national or personal interests simply because our first choice was not the nominee. It’s so offensive, but the media has been feeding this myth because of a few disgruntled kooks got interviewed, or because, "...a source close to the campaign said...".
Dedicated and heroic women and men that have worked for decades to help America live up to our constitutional potential, don't have to be "released" from being a Clinton delegate. They have already pivoted, and are supporting the Obama ticket.
Now, the McCain/media myth is that there are vast numbers of women that are furious because Hillary is not the Democrat VP pick. News flash, most of us already figured that he wasn't picking her a long time ago.
Does anyone really believe that that Hillary Clinton has been "done wrong" and that the Republicans (who just love her)are steaming mad about it? Where is the grip on reality?
When the whole thing falls apart and exposed for the farce it is, Rove 2.0 will be done with Carley. She'll get lip service, but then they will distance.
The RNC will have little comment and, I can hear it all now, from Rick Smith, "Senator McCain did not approve or know anything about Ms. Fiornia's activities or plans in Denver. He does not control what the RNC does or does not do."
Poor,Carley. Because of this not-so-swiftboat move, all of America will soon know about her own very thin resume, and her personal and business history reminding everyone of the wiretapping of employees at HP along with her forced resignation. Maybe it's about time since her name is constantly being mentioned as VP material.
It's just sad that there are, and apparently will always be, some women who are so eager to impress that they can be reliably used to betray other women. In this case it just happens to be that she is betraying all the women of America. The good part is that it won't work.
Fiorina has shown personal insecurity by agreeing to do this for the RNC and although she may make a friend or two, they will not respect her when it's over.
Yes, she may get a job in the Republican bone yard as a FOX political analyst, but her brush with political power is almost over.
