New McCain ad mocks Obama as a celebrity

The ad is a recognition of just how much this election is about Obama and it risks stoking the storyline that McCain is running an angry campaign. But it could be effective in tapping into the idea that for all the hype Obama hasn't actually achieved that much.

And it hits O-Force One where it will hurt him - in voters pockets. Expect to see much more of the same repeated again and again.

The ad seems to be aimed at the cranky vote. John Weaver, former aide to McCain, had some trenchant things to say about it:

On a deeper level, if the campaign is about Obama: Yes or No?, then he's in very good shape. In other words, if McCain doesn't come up with some compelling, positive reasons for his candidacy soon, he is toast.

Not a good idea to use the daughter of your supporters to smear your rival

From The LA Times

"Then there's the small inconvenience that Paris' parents, Rick and Kathleen Hilton, are supporters of McCain's Republican presidential bid. According to federal campaign records, they gave the maximum $4,600"

Small point I agree but symptomatic of a badly run campaign & what a stupid idea it was to show 200,000 people shouting vote Obama in your own campaign ad.

McCains team are idiots even Fox news are saying so according to my brother in the US. The more this is about Obama the more he wins.

Poll yesterday has Obama +2 in Florida, although he has been buying a lot of "air"

McCain may mock Obama but we live in a satire-proof age. The self-regard of the Obama camp is more than an old woman's fat cosseted poodle. The solipsism. Behold:

A moveon.org ad for the Obamessiah.
