Democracy has been very roughly (and rightly) defined as the occasional opportunity to throw the bastards out. You get that opportunity once in a while and you live in a democratic country.
And, of course, today is one of the days that you get to exercise that opportunity. So go do so, you can't complain about them if you don't grasp the chance now, can you?
Note that I'm not suggesting which set of bastards you should be throwing out: that's rather up to you (although I might point out that I shall be presenting myself as someone you might want to throw out soon enough). Instead, I'll just pass along the gist of some old PJ O'Rourke advice about elections.
You need to remember only two things about politicians: they're all stupid and they're all after your money. So when there is an election always vote against the incumbent. For it will take the new bloke some time to work out how to steal more of your money and who knows, there might be another election in which you can get rid of him again before he does.
Cynic? Moi?
