British consumers are in for even tougher times, if the predictions of Centrica – the owners of British Gas – are anything to go by. They say that gas prices for the second half of this year will almost certainly be around double those of last year. Throw in rising food prices (as detailed by Fraser), and many will start feeling the squeeze in a major way. It’s the perfect set-up for yet another showdown between the Government and energy suppliers. Who will win out, and escape blame for the hikes? Watch this space.
