So the Statesman's film critic didn't care for Atonement either. ("That's the Working Title formula for you: snap up a bestselling novel, ladle on the stars and the gloss, and watch the bucks roll in.") That's more like it. I was beginning to think I was losing my sanity. Although I'm still baffled as to why so many of the other reviewers reached for the hyperbole.
