Labour to try and steal Tory clothes on inheritance tax

I hear on the grapevine that Darling will tomorrow announce a "review" of inheritance tax. If so, Brown again risks derision about his claim to be a "conviction politician". In the long run, it's worse to be seen as a flip flopper than a tax grabber.

As for stealing their clothes, which over the years they have found to be ill fitting, he is not averse now to stealing the bodies to put in them !! But it may rebound on him where the public may as well vote for the real thing! If its Conservatism that he feels has values (Thatcher etc) then why bother with Labour?

Good to see David Cameron went part of the way to adopting my inheritance tax and free schools proposals (based on Swedish experience) before Brown stole them. Sad that after ten years yearning to be PM, now Brown's got there, he hasn't the slightest idea what to do.

Hilarious. Time and time again Labour attacks then Brown adopts our proposals. Being a Labour party member ought to be a source of deep shame.

If Darling does assume the mantle of copycat, I would expect George Osborne to ram the point home, leaving everyone in no doubt that there is no purpose in being in government if you have no ideas of your own. Labour have been getting away with this for too long.I have an uneasy feeling Brown is edging his way out of trouble - there was not enough from the Tories yesterday. In the Commons, I'm not sure Cameron's focus on Brown's visit to Iraq was effective - Brown has had some days to manufacture a response. He has to be fleet-footed and move the attack on to new territory on a daily basis to keep Brown pegged in.
