It’s our Dear Leader’s birthday today: Gordon Brown is 57 years young. He's a famous bibliophile - and I figured we could send him a list of books. Here’s five to start with.

1) Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff – how to stop control freakery leading to misery

2) Wikinomics – why hierarchies are collapsing and the age of big government really is dead

3) Littlejohn’s Britain – he can take a view of his government from the bottom up.

4) Words That Work – Frank Luntz on why repeating “stability” seven times a day is a route to lose elections.

5) The Power of Charm - because it’s never too late for self-help.

How about a book on Courage? He allegedly wrote one, but if so its contents haven't manifested themselves in either his actions or character.

Dither Farm - Sid Hite - Put him out to pasture where he can dither away his dotage. Cape Cod Confidential - Evan J Albright "Scandal from the Pilgrims to the Present" - Will remind Gordon of his holidays on the Cape.

Puckoon by Spike Milligna (the well-known typing error). Brown could draw a parallel between his contribution to the greatness of the British economy and Milligan's role in defeating Hitler. Of course if Brown cannot see the parallel, he can at least look at the excellent drawings.

Both hands held up! It has been over 20 years since I read the great man's two books that I've confused, but that is no excuse. Serves me right for taking a cheap shot at Brown, who, for all the damage he has and is doing to the country, is merely a man working in a job which is beyond his capability.

A Little Childish? - But still enjoyable to read
