Neck-and-neck
Fraser Nelson 11:08am
If betting matters as a political indicator, Boris is neck-and-neck with the self-destructing Ken. Here are the latest odds from Ladbrokes:
Ken Livingstone ---- 5/6
Boris Johnson ---- 5/6
Brian Paddick ---- 16/1
John Bird ---- 100/1
Sian Berry ---- 100/1

March 3rd, 2008 11:48amWhat no odds on Richard Barnbrook, the BNP candidate? I think he will end up with more votes than the other outsiders. A bet on fourth place?

March 3rd, 2008 1:00pmI'm quite willing to bet Fraser *any* sum of money he likes that Boris will lose and Ken will win. Boris has run a throughly lazy, 3rd rate campaign, and much as Ken deserves to lose, he won't. And I suspect Fraser thinks too that he won't, but finds it slightly too uncollegiate to express that view in Old Queen St.

March 3rd, 2008 1:37pmCameron doing his bit to get Boris elected with another batch of things he's going to do when PM. Love the flog old prisons, turn them into luxury flats and use the lolly received to build new prisons in less desirable neighbourhoods.Prisons in less desirable parts of the country, now that's a winner.

March 3rd, 2008 2:51pmThe hest possible outcome will be a very narrow KL win. Boris will have damaged him, GB and the Labour party and escaped having to be mayor. By far the most likely outcome and the best!

March 3rd, 2008 4:21pmAs James @ 11.48 suggests, do you think that by pretending the BNP aren't there they will go away? Surely they need to be exposed in every sense. Let them explain their policies and let be judged for what they are. If their recent record in local by-elections is anything to go by, I think we are all in for a very big shock.

March 4th, 2008 4:06pmSo there's not one Coffee House reader who actually thinks Boris *is* going to win then? No? Is there? C'mon! If there is there anyone out there who seriously thinks Boris has run an election winning campaign, it's easy money time. I'll match any sum you care to wager on him winning. He wins, I pay you: he loes, you pay me.

March 5th, 2008 9:36amAlex I think Boris is going to win. I KNOW Boris is going to win, there is no other possible outcome. Boris is hugely intelligent, he has a sense of history and he is naturally witty, it is a no brainer.
