I knew I adored Sarko from the first time I saw his on TV in France. What an elegant, heartfelt and gracious gesture of acknowledgement.

Absolutely amazing speech (i watched it all on sky live). It takes a frenchmen to give us some English pride, why cant we have an English politician as inspirational and thoughtful as Sarkozy?? Cameron take note.

If British politicians thought and spoke like this, maybe not so many of us would have left the country to live abroad. But what would the "PC brigade" have said? Too British?

What a pity he's not teaching our children history ! The nonsense that our children are taught today about our past is so far off the mark that all history teachers should be given a video of his speech, to show in the classroom. It just might encourage the class to feel more patriotic.

France may never forget but unfortunately Britain probably will.
