Harman's turn in the limelight

Some of the most memorable PMQs of recent times were when John Prescott faced William Hague. The two-men both went at it with vigour and the total contrast in styles made for entertaining viewing. Now, it looks like we’re in for another classic contest because, as Sam Coates reports, Harriet Harman will be standing in for Gordon Brown next week. No official word yet on who will deputise for David Cameron, but if past performance is anything to go by it will be Hague; a Hague-Harman contest would be good for Tory morale if nothing else.

Good lord, he's going to batter her.

As with Ben Swain's mauling by Jeremy Paxman on The Thick Of It, this is going to be 'like watching a lion rape a sheep, but in a very bad way'.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....

Harriet 'Harperson' vs. William Hague - this should be entertaining...

It will be interesting to see if Harriet Harmthenation continues McSauron's weekly mantra of "New Labour good, Tories bad" and fires back questions at Hague. Will we see the planted questions and other thinly disguised New Lab trickery from the Red Queen?

Are you selling tickets, James?

It will be a game of 'how many non-sequitur answers can you fit into 6 questions?'

Did you call it a 'contest' James, or was it a typo?

He'll have to go easy on her to avoid accusations of bullying.

I'm sure Harman is confident and looking forward immensely (and given her avoirdupois, she can't look any other way, ha ha) to her chance to thrill with her stunning skills. She's a QC after all.

The QC is purely honorific, by the way - you couldn't have a Solicitor General without one, could you? I'd like to see her in court.

Yes, I know it's an honorific, but I have a feeling Harperson takes it seriously. But I agree, Salieri; it would be illuminating to see her in court.

Brilliant: from bear-baiting to a turkey-shoot.

Nu-Lab's menagerie is so uninspiring....

Ah, - the fragrant Mz. Harman. Can we stand this onslaught? Or is it better to dive for cover?
