The war against the west

Last night I attended the annual dinner of the Community Security Trust, the organisation that provides the astounding degree of security now needed to help protect Britain’s tiny Jewish population against attack. Sitting there listening to the appeal for money to finance this organisation, and watching the video of what it does and why it is needed, I was struck afresh by the shocking nature of this situation. The video showed Jewish schools in Britain being fitted with bomb-proof windows, Jewish children in Britain being taught how to fend off attack. Jews in Britain are now attacked more frequently than any other minority group.

Although racists have always attacked each and every minority group and that situation has not changed, the fact remains that minorities such as Hindus, Sikhs or Muslims don’t need to be guarded at their communal events; it is only Britain’s Jews for whom that is considered a necessity, and they are guarded at every single synagogue service or communal event. Indeed, the street outside the London hotel where last night’s dinner was held was knee-deep in police and CST volunteers. I was sitting with some very decent people, non-Jews, of the kind who might have been called in a different age the backbone of England. Did they not think that all this was quite extraordinary? I asked them. Shameful, they said; absolutely shameful and appalling; and they shook their heads in sorrow that such a thing should be the case in Britain in 2008, that British Jews should be at such risk that the task of guarding them was quite beyond the regular police and had to be undertaken in large measure by a standing force of Jewish volunteers.

At this dinner the guest of honour was David Cameron. He made a simply outstanding speech ripping into the moral bankruptcy of the useful idiots and worse who are appeasing Islamism in Britain — a speech of a strength, clarity and passion that I had not heard before. It marked a notable step change in Tory policy on terror and Islamism. It was basically a speech which said in effect ‘They shall not pass’ and it threw down the gauntlet to the government which has effectively been prostrating itself before the Islamists instead.

I can’t find the speech at present on the Conservative Party website, but here are some highlights of what Cameron said:
To us, it seems self-evident that there is a clear dividing line between those who set out to kill and maim innocent civilians and those who do not. But the extremist mindset constantly seeks to muddy the water, to blur the distinction and even to invert the reality. Last year I visited Birmingham Central Mosque. While there, I was told that the 7/7 bombers were innocent and that, in fact, MI5 may have carried out the atrocities.I was particularly shocked because the person who said this was not some teenage hothead…he was the chairman of the Mosque…

During protests against the conflict in Lebanon, we witnessed the nauseating sight of well-scrubbed, middle class English people… marching through central London holding placards that read ‘We are all Hizbollah’. That is the extremist mindset in action. These are the same people who urge a boycott of Israeli goods and academics… while saying nothing about China, Iran or Zimbabwe. Unless we challenge such attitudes and expose them for the morally-bankrupt nonsense they are… they will spread through the body politic and become the received wisdom of millions…

Gordon Brown recently banned Yusef al-Qaradawi, the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood and a notorious preacher of hate, from Britain. A man who justifies suicide bombing and calls for homosexuals to be murdered has no place here. That’s why I raised the matter in the House of Commons and asked the Prime Minister to keep him out. But at the same time I also called for him to exclude the head of Hezbollah's notoriously anti-semitic TV station, Ibrahim Moussawi. Moussawi was recently banned by the Irish government but for some reason he has now been allowed into Britain. He’s here at the moment, on a speaking tour, spreading his vile message. The government cannot afford to split the difference with the extremists – excluding Qaradawi, letting in Moussawi. Terrorist apologists should be kept out. Full stop. Period…

Hizb-ut-Tahrir is an extremist organisation that poisons the minds of young Muslims against Jews, Christians and other unbelievers. Some of those who have been through its ranks have ended up in Al Qaeda. In short, it is a conveyor belt to terrorism. Tony Blair declared in 2005 that it would be banned. That didn’t happen. Instead it is still active, recruiting on campuses and from London street gangs. There’s only one responsible course of action. It’s time to close down Hizb-ut-Tahrir…

The government has allocated hundreds of thousands of pounds to local authorities to improve community cohesion. But there are worrying signs that ministers have taken their eyes off the ball. Tower Hamlets council has received extensive funding for such projects. But it has now been revealed that one of the organisations it has given thousands of pounds to is a front for the Muslim Brotherhood called the Cordoba Foundation. And what was the first thing this organisation did with the money? It organised a public debate with the title 'Has Political Participation Failed British Muslims?' And who did they invite to speak? The leader of Hizb-ut-Tahrir. Even the most basic research would reveal that the Cordoba Foundation has close connections to people with extremist views, including Azzam Tamimi, the UK representative of Hamas.

There are indications that this problem is more widespread.
In the weeks ahead I will be making proposals to isolate extremists and make certain they cannot obtain public grants or get invited to sit on public bodies. That won’t just apply to Islamic extremists. We will be equally vigilant in ensuring that groups linked to the BNP or animal rights militants are excluded too. The message should be clear: To those who reject democracy. To those who preach hate. To those who encourage violence. You are not part of the mainstream. You will not get public funding. You are not welcome as part of our society. We will only defeat the extremist mindset if we understand and confront it.
It was, as I say, a very good speech. But the problem is yet deeper and wider still. For the Islamisation of Britain is proceeding apace. Here is a press notice that has reached me from the London law firm Clifford Chance about the £1 billion Islamic financing of Chelsea Barracks:
Clifford Chance has advised Project Blue (Guernsey) Limited in the acquisition and financing of Chelsea Barracks. Chelsea Barracks, situated in the City of Westminster, is the most valuable development site purchase in UK history. The purchase was completed on 31 January 2008 for a price of £959 million, with the payment split evenly over five years. The Islamic financing was for an amount in the region of £1 billion and is believed to be the largest Islamic financing of UK land.

Project Blue (Guernsey) Limited is majority owned by Qatari Diar, with investment from CPC Group, a Guernsey based Development Company owned by Christian Candy. It has appointed Candy & Candy as development managers and interior designers for the proposed residential scheme for the site. Clifford Chance real estate partner Mark Payne comments, ‘This extraordinary site continues to set the bar for acquisition and residential development. Its many fascinating aspects now include one of the most complex and innovative financings ever seen in the UK. We are breaking new ground by creating and implementing an Islamic financing on this scale on a major development site in the UK. It was a tremendous team effort with a Clifford Chance real estate team combining market leading expertise in real estate, finance and tax…The site was sold by the Ministry of Defence advised by Philip Page of Michelmores LLP. The banks who underwrote the financing were Masraf Al Rayan, HSBC Amanah, BNP Paribas, Calyon Credit Agricole and Qatar National Bank, advised by a team from Norton Rose led by Anthony Pallett and Lucy Wolley Dod.

The Prime Minister has said Britain must become the global centre of Islamic banking. More and more public companies are being taken over by Islamic interests; we now have ‘sharia-compliant’ mortgages, and the Treasury is moving towards a system of Islamic bonds. The government seems completely unaware however that sharia banking comes with a devastating IOU—the Islamisation of all those who use it. That’s why Investor’s Business Daily recently warned:

Shariah-compliant finance involves investments and other transactions that have been structured to conform with the orthodox teachings of Islamic law…

Wall Street is jumping into this hot new market oblivious to the risks not just to the bottom line, but to national security. It knows little about Shariah law and is turning to consultants to create ‘ethical’ products to sell. Lost in the hype over these Muslim-friendly funds is that they must ‘purify’ their returns by transferring at least 3% into Islamic charities, many of which funnel funds to terrorists. So the Street may unwittingly be helping the evildoers launder blood money. Shariah law obligates that a sizable portion of zakat, or giving — one of the pillars of Islam — go to support jihad. So many of the purification donations generated from Shariah finance could wind up in the hands of our enemy…

These funds offer little transparency. They fail to disclose either the radical ties of the scholars who are advising and running them or the tenets that dictate the structuring of the investments. The prospectuses explain simply that the investments are ‘ethical’ or ‘socially acceptable,’ when in fact they're grounded in a religious doctrine that threatens America and the West. The main purpose of Shariah law is to promote Islam as the only legitimate governing system and to help establish its rule worldwide. Shariah-compliant finance is a means to that end. Ignoring in a time of war the moral hazards associated with such financial products, and treating them as if they were as benign and secular as any other, may be the height of corporate recklessness.
The attitude towards Islamism displayed by the British government and significant parts of the security establishment is reckless, ignorant and lethally misguided. If David Cameron keeps up this new approach and finds the courage — and he’ll need it — to develop it yet further, he could find that finally his moment has arrived.

Good G*d! To quote an amusing at the time advertising campaign from Thomas Cook about 10 years ago: "Time to leave the country." This is probably the most frightening piece of news I have ever read. And yes, this could be David C's calling. To be frank, I see civil war occurring. What the hell is going to happen when these people gain control (somehow) of our military, CCTV cameras and/or DNA database? "Exterminate all Jews / homosexuals / Etc." A good enough reason on it's own to completely abandon and rip out all CCTV cameras and scrap the DNA database. (Neither of which don't PREVENT crime anyway.) Funny, all my life, after the cold war ended, I believed we were finally 'safe' and would be dealing with shared issues associated with medicine, population growth, the environment, food supplies etc. And we are, however, these issues are all solvable through science and effort. But how do you halt hatred when it is among you?

Thinkster

March 5th, 2008 12:44am

Correction to my posting: (Neither of which PREVENT crime anyway.) Meaning, CCTV and DNA databases are only used to track people down after the act. Somewhat pointless, unlike walking running policemen. But that's another topic! Point is, our enemies could use a database to locate people of a specific race or creed, track them down and do something unpleasant. Interesting that oil revenues fund most attacks against us, and that in a similar way, our own technology and law may be used against us too.

I think the title of this post should have been 'The War in the West' if we are to take a closer look and be honest. It is true that the attacks on Jews has risen since 1984, the highest year being 2006, following Israel's entering Lebanon, which may have been a factor within the increase of attacks towards Jews in Britain, following the media coverage. In 2007 there has been an 8% decrease of attacks, however the attacks against Jews has alarmingly remained constant, but what alarmed me the most was that the highest attacks reported against British Jews in 2006 'The physical descriptions of perpetrators in 205 of the incidents show 96 were by white people, 28 by black people, 60 by Asians and 16 by Arabs' Following the 7/7 London bombings in 2005, Scotland Yard reported a rise in attacks against British Muslims from previous years, as follows, In South Yorkshire, there were 137 attacks in July 2005, up from 48 in July 2004. In West Yorkshire, there were 366 attacks in July 2005, up from 195 in July 2004. In the West Midlands, attacks increased by 46%, while on Merseyside they increased by 76%. In Scotland, there were 438 racist attacks in July 2005, up from 359 in July 2004. Nationally, the figures rose by 24%, from 3,355 to 4,160. We are all under attack, this is Britain, the real Britain. As far as the Morality of Politics finding a solution to these racist attacks and the scourge of crime, of which we are all attacked, don't hold your breath, Cameron is just another Politician in wolf's clothing.

Kissinger spoke the most pertinent comment when Gorbachev dismantled the communist empire. He said "we have come to the end of the longest period of peace in Europe." He didn't say, but might have guessed the Balkans would be first. I imagine this war though slipped under his radar.

If David Cameron could only come out openly on the side of the people he would win. If he goes the way of immigrant vote catching and Saudi cash, win or lose, he will be a betrayer to the British nation. Since World War I and II, the British people had for the first time a chance of real freedom from the aristocratic bondage they had always been under. Instead of grasping it with both hands they slowly but surely start to give it away.

Until this news finds a wider audience, the public will carry on with its blind adherence to the continuing appeasement agenda. A quick search for the story finds it reported in the Telegraph, this blog and a Jewish news site. http://news.google.co.uk/news?hl=en&tab=wn&ned=uk&q=david-cameron+muslim Only the converted are preaching.

I don't want to see Sharia law in the UK either. That said, it would address at least two major failings in our liberal society - alcohol/drug abuse and all that flows from it, and abortion on demand. (Everyone ignores the latter, because of course the unborn can't vote for Cameron or anyone else.) Perhaps Sharia is the "anti-thesis" of the prevailing materialist-liberal "thesis" in this country. And perhaps the majority should deal with its own shortcomings before hammering Sharia.

It's not as if we haven't been warned already...A Belgium imam said: "We will take over this country and those who criticise us will regret it, they will have to serve us."

Livingstone's favourite radical, Qaradawi, said " Islam will return to Europe as a conqueror and victor, after being expelled from it twice; once from the South, from Andalusia, and a second time from the East, when it knocked several times on the door of Athens. I maintain that the conquest this time will not be by the sword but by preaching and ideology… He also said:
“Israelis might have nuclear bombs, but we have the children bomb and these human bombs must continue until liberation.” As Enoch Powell said... " All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal."

Mr. Cameron and others should take a long hard look at Islam Channel, the TV Channel which day in day out distils some poison about the West, Jews and Israel. This poison slowly but certainly rots the Muslim community from within. As long as British political and religious leaders pander to this broadcaster so long will they be given aid and comfort. It should be vigourously monitored a\nd taken to task.

March 5th, 2008 1:30pm

The sad thing is that the growing body of Islamism in the UK is often being funded indirectly by the Government; it's part of their training to use the system. I think it was the recently jailed terror plotter Parviz Khan, who was claiming £20,000 a year in benefits, who said it was the duty of every Muslim to take from the non-believer, after bragging about making the non-believers 'bleed financially'. The sympathetic approach towards such people, utilised by British Liberals is a danger to our national security as well as our society.

I do wish David Cameron would stop comparing the BNP to radical Islam and organisations such as Hizb-ut-Tahrir. The BNP is a legal, democratic party that receives considerable support. It doesn't 'reject democracy', 'preach hate' or 'encourage violence'. I suppose he feels more comfortable criticising Islam when he also includes criticism of the BNP. I'm afraid that's not good enough though.

Mr. Latchford,

I jewish imigrants in Britain were seeking the destruction of western civilisation, the over-throw of democracy and the imposition of 'non-citizen' status on any non-jew, doing all this through a mixture of demographic change, manipulation of the legal system, and the use of terrorism, then yours would be a perfectly reasonable comparison.

As the jews are not doing any of those things, it is the kind of relativistic, morally bankrupt nonsense that one has come to expect from those who cannot make a moral distinction between genocidal terrorists and those they seek to eradicate.

In the 1930s the Jews in Germany saw themselves as good Germans, the Jews in Hungary, France, Poland, Holland, likewise saw themselves as good Hungarians, French, Poles, Dutch. They were still evaporated. The British Jews are making the identical mistake. Regardles of the courage and resilience of Ms. Phillips. The British Jews should leave Britain. There is Israel, the US, Canada, Australia. It is delusion to believe that buletproof windows and self defence instructions can save the some 200,000 Jews still in Britain. Britain is already controlled by a socialist cultural ethic that subordinates the individual to the multi-cultural. The few million Muslim tail already wags the British dog. Not much time is left.

Shariah finance seems to be being put into effect in the UK in very hush hush tones. I recently visited my bank's website just to make sure it wasn't dabbling in anything like this and there, lo and behold, were Shariah accounts etc. I'd never seen this advertised in the bank foyer or on TV (perhaps they are and I'd missed them), but it all seems very low key. I then had to search for another bank and was surprised to find how many of them (big ones too) were dealing in all this - you often have to search the websites carefully before the Shariah products come up. Trouble is, as Dr Daniel Pipes touches on here (this essay was flagged up on Melanie's old blog), this sort of financing 'is an "invented tradition" that emerged in the 1940s in India'. http://www.danielpipes.org/article/4973 I have finally found a building society that doesn't seem to be dealing in anything like this - at least, it's not flagged up on the website - and finally managed to switch. Do read Dr Daniel Pipes' website if you can, I am grateful to Melanie for having flagged it up to me.

George -i,m sure you mean well but i cant agree with your analysis-Germany was controlled by a maniac -I dont always agree with Gordon but I dont think we should categorise our government as similar to the nazis (lol)-The vast majority of brits are as apalled as we are at what is going on with these militants ,and neither do i think they represent their community-it is understandable that Muslims sympathise with their own ,it does not mean that they wish to fight with us ,as we do not wish to fight with them -we are in a debate ,strong i know, so we must engage with them and find an equable solution to our problems -this problem is caused by a relatively small percentage of the Muslim population and the majority are victims along with us -we need to hope that they will have the courage to stand up to the extremists and for that they will need all the help we can give them -courage mon ami

You couldn't find the speech on the Tory website? Now, there's a surprise! Only last month, a large group in Derby defected from Labour to the Tories on a specifically communal issue. It is not unkonw for Muslim Respect Councillors to do the same. The Tories are affiliated to the European People's Party, as is Turkey's ruling AKP, the leaders of which are in no sense "former Islamists" and would not have been elected if they were. The Tories' vehicles toured Ealing Southall proclaiming in various South Asian languages that Muslim, Hindu and Sikh festivals were to be made public holidays by the Tories. Then that party's "Quality of Life Commission" (don't laugh, it's real) published a report advocating that "local communities" be given the power to designate three public holidays in their respective localities. In other words, the Tories are going to go around Asian areas at the next Election making this same promise all over again, adjusted according to how Muslim, Hindu or Sikh the particular constituency, ward or addressee happens to be. After that, what else are these unspecified "local communities" going to decide? Who are they, exactly? I think we all know that they are the great and the good of the local mosque, mandir or gurdwara. Getting to decide this, and then a whole lot more, is to be their price for getting out the vote, sometimes consisting of nothing more than reminding their mates to fill in postal ballot papers the right way on behalf of their entire households. These situations will easily perpetuate themselves, since people will move - not just from around the country, but from around the world - to live in Cameron's little Caliphates, Hindutvas and Khalistans.

Bob Latchford: Do you read the Guardian, Independent or listen to BBC? All these organs 'lay into Britain's Jews' on a daily basis by perfidious misrepresentation of Israel, thereby inciting the 'oldest hatred' which by extension includes British Jews. Like yourself, these dhimmi suffer from the risible intellectual deficiency which promotes moral and cultural 'relativism'. Why, I would ask, do you imagine ANY equivalence exists between British Jews and those Islamist and/or Muslim immigrants who are on record as perpetrating a five-pronged attack - political, financial, religious, terrorist and demographic - on western culture? Cf. British Jews DO NOT drain the welfare services; they DO NOT insist on special privileges; they DO NOT seek to impose their religious practice; they DO NOT BLOW UP their fellow citizens; they DO NOT threaten, riot or intimidate; they DO NOT (by stealth) buy up British financial institutions; nor have they COLONISED huge swathes of England which are now 'no-go' lands. AU CONTRAIRE - British Jews integrate, are loyal, pay taxes; contribute massive scholarship in medicine, maths, science, physics, philosophy - google Nobel prizes to British Jews! British Jews live within the law of the land and exhibit exemplary citizenship values. One can only compare (as social groupings) like with like. Muslims per se seem unable to comprehend the obligation to the host nation incumbent on any immigrant. British Jews have been betrayed by a combination of the dumbing down of the British education system and the subsequent uninformed apathy of the populace which hasn't (until now) noticed the role successive governments have played in swamping the country with subversive Islamists. Melanie Philips is in a long, honourable line of British Jews who have given immeasurable service to their country. Since you are 'into' equivalence, perhaps you might identify ONE Muslim who has made ANY equivalent contribution.

I note you still haven't made any comment of your own. I regularly read Ms Phillips' blog and I'm fully aware of her misgivings regarding the BNP, which of course is perfectly ok in a democracy. What I cannot agree with is David Cameron's insistence on bracketing the BNP with extreme Islamist groups and saying he would 'make certain they cannot obtain public grants or get invited to sit on public bodies'. He has no right or justification for this regarding the BNP. They do not preach hate of immigrants or ethnic minorities, do not advocate violence (try the UAF for that) and most certainly do not reject democracy.

Yes, I read that article and I understand why Melanie wrote what she did. I don't, however, agree with her conclusion. Melanie suspects that the BNP haven't changed and that there support for Israel against Hezbollah isn't genuine. She also manages to read something into the word 'always' that I don't think was there. She then confuses being against immigration and the wholesale cultural transformation this country is experiencing with 'racism'. Again, that's perfectly ok. All part of free and open debate. What wasn't evident were signs of 'preaching hate' that would justify David Cameron's comments. Disagree with the BNP by all means but their suppression, in the manner advocated by David Cameron, is plain wrong.

When asking you why you hadn't commented I was merely wondering if you had any opinions of your own. For example, if you're 'sure there are 'a few common denominators' between the BNP and Islamists such as Hizb-ut-Tahrir please enlighten us.
