Where are the police?

Can someone please explain this to me:

We had a year long police investigation into 'cash for honours' for which there was, in reality, no direct evidence but plenty of supposition (supposition which I happened to think was well merited).

Now, however, there is prima facie evidence of wrongdoing, and what looks like straightforward fraud. And unless I have missed something, not a whistle from the police.

Why the delay?

Where are the police? That's an easy one surely as any Chelsea-ite wil tell you. The police are cruising Chelsea's not so mean streets looking for leggy dames to ogle, as I noticed one summer when 3 different panda cars passed a pub, slowly, with 2 leggy specimens chatting away. Mugging in Brixton?, illicit cash in the House? - here's your crime ref no. But I haven't got insurance. Tough! I guess they were only in Chelsea to cope with the stress of being so under resourced.

The police don't have enough resources. With a number of "peoples' enemies" lighting up illegal cigarettes in pubs across the country, thousands of coppers have had to be drafted in to deal with them. Human Rights issues always take priority over cases of mere fraud.

Hush! A good source tells me the police are keeping their powder dry and waiting to see the whites of the eyes, but they will descend like a ton of bricks....all in good time.

The police must wonder what the point of investigating it is given how the CPS swept the last case under the carpet.
