January 11th, 2008 9:52amTalking of dogs and guns, this reminds me of the SWAT team killing of a man who had bolted into the woods after shooting dead a sheriff's deputy and his police dog. When asked why the SWAT team had shot the man 68 times, the Polk County Sheriff replied, "that's all the ammunition they had". Never mind Hillary or Obama, I want that sheriff as the next President.

January 12th, 2008 2:27pmThis is a heedless generalization, since not all dogs are even capable of killing people: my parents' Pek, for one; the poor old bugger can bearly eat the mash with which it is nearly spoon fed - as the Asians say 'The British treat their dogs like children - and their children like dogs.'. Moreover guns never kill people: people kill people, any gun is incidental. However, unpopular governments (and most get that way)find ways in which to pander to the largest voting section of the community and follow the lead of the gutter press into enacting ill-conceived and little debated legislation, such as the gun ban, following Dunblane: as Prince Phillip quite rightly pointed out (as he frequently does on any number of issues), a mass murderer could use a cricket bat.
