Baroness Helena Kennedy MP Barrister who has acted in many leading cases including the Brighton bombing trial, the Guildford Four appeal and many of the trials of battered women who kill their partners. Chair of the British Council and Chair of the Human Genetics Commission. As a life peer, she also participates in the House of Lords on issues concerned with human rights, civil liberties, social justice and culture. She is author of ‘Just Law’ on the state of Britain today and the changing face of British justice.
Angus Robertson MPScottish National Party spokesman on defence and Europe in Westminster and Scottish Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs. Recently became the SNP Leader in Westminster following Alex Salmond's election as First Minister for Scotland. His main political interests are Scottish independence, International and European Affairs, defence, whisky, oil, fishing, sustainable development and youth issues.

Sir Michael QuinlanSenior Consulting Fellow on South Asia at the International Institute for Strategic Studies and Visiting Professor in the Department of War Studies, King’s College London. Has written extensively on defence and international-security matters, especially nuclear-weapon policy and doctrine. Has published “Thinking About Nuclear Weapons” (1997) and "European Defence Cooperation" (2001). Has been a special adviser to Parliamentary committees on international-security issues and is an Honorary Ancien of the NATO Defense College.
Sir Malcolm Rifkind MPSir Malcolm Rifkind was a member of the British Government from 1979 to 1997, and served in a number of posts, including Minister of Defence (1992-95) and Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1995-97). He is Member of Parliament for Kensington and Chelsea.
Oliver KammColumnist for The Times. His writings have also appeared in The Guardian and Prospect. He is author of ‘Anti-Totalitarianism: the Left-Wing Case for a Neoconservative Foreign Policy’ (2005), and a contributor to ‘Britain's Bomb: What Next?’ (2006).
The debate will be chaired by Jonathan Freedland Award-winning journalist and broadcaster. He writes a weekly column in The Guardian, as well as a monthly piece for The Jewish Chronicle. He also presents BBC Radio 4’s contemporary history series, ‘The Long View’.
