Read The Spectator on your iPhone, iPad or online

Subscribers now have free access to The Spectator on their iPhone, iPad and online.

An existing subscriber? Follow the instructions below and you can download the latest issue now, wherever you are in the world.

Access on your iPhone:
Please ensure you have the latest software on your iPhone before downloading the app.

1. On your iPhone, visit the App store. Download the free Spectator app supplied by wide area (search for ‘Spectator’ and click on the coffee cup icon).

2. Once downloaded, launch the app.

3. Tap the ‘Settings’ option in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

4. Tap the ‘Subscriber access’ button at the top of the page.

5. Type in your WebID (which is printed above your address on the piece of paper that comes with your copy of The Spectator every week). Then tap the ‘Check’ button. The app will then verify your subscription status and display your subscription information.

6. Return to the opening screen of the app and click on the issue you would like to download. The issue (and any future issues you select) will download for free, you will then be able to read it even without internet access.

Access on your iPad:

1. From your computer or iPad go to www.exacteditions.com/print/spectator

2. Enter your WebID (which is printed above your address on the piece of paper that comes with your copy of the magazine every week), complete the form, then click submit.

3. Note down the ‘Shared Access Code’ you are given on the next page.
 
4. Click on the app icon to take you to the iTunes store.

5. Download the free app and install it on your iPad. If prompted, enter your iTunes password as usual.

6. Ensure your iPad has a wi-fi connection and launch the app. Please note that a wi-fi connection is required to download pages to your device.

7. The app will start to download the latest issue to your iPad. At page 10, it will ask for your ‘Shared Access Code’. Tap the ‘Code’ box and enter your ‘Shared Access Code’ from step 3 above. Then tap ‘Done’.

8. After a moment, the app will confirm that your ‘Shared Access Code’ has been accepted and the remaining pages of the issue will download to your iPad.  You can now read the issue even without an internet connection.

9. When the next issue is published (every Thursday morning), it will download automatically. The previous issue will then be archived.

Access on your computer:
1. From your computer visit www.exacteditions.com/print/spectator

2. Enter your WebID (which is printed above your address on the piece of paper that comes with your copy of the magazine every week). Complete the form, then click 'Submit'.

3. Click on the digital edition link.

4. Read the current issue or browse through the archive going back to 2005.
