It's the energy, inuit!

Wednesday, 3rd September 2008

Investor’s Business Daily
makes the point that McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as his VP running-mate has an important strategic dimension, which is of course being missed in all the hysteria. Alaska, with its huge oil reserves, can help break the stranglehold of global petro-tyranny as demonstrated by Russia’s current behaviour. And no-one has done more to promote Alaskan energy reserves than Palin:
Palin knows energy. She's already figured out how to deliver energy to the U.S. without Congress — by championing state legislation to create a 1,712-mile natural gas pipeline across Canada to the U.S.

It was a major feat, negotiating with the Canadian government, educating lawmakers and getting the public behind her. In a decade, the $30 billion project will ship 4.5 million cubic feet of gas a day from the North Slope to Houston's air conditioners, Iowa's farm machines and Boston's winter furnaces. There's little doubt this is the kind of leadership the U.S. needs.
Among the many insults hurled Palin’s way is the jibe that Alaska is nowhere’sville. But as the IBD points out, Alaska is on the contrary the pivotal state in the union for energy -- and may indeed offer the US a way to neuter the energy blackmail that has derailed global politics.

It’s the energy, inuit!

No it isn't. He just wanted to get some of the Billary's supporters.

The female vote won Blair three elections. It's the maths, inuit!

That's interesting, except McCain is opposed to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska and he's heading the ticket not her. A little more homework please!

The most powerful recommendation for this woman is the hatred of her in the Main Stream Media. I just read an article in the Independent on her. No attempt, whatsoever to find anything positive. Just a stream of prurient tsk tsking about her husband being arrested for drink driving in 1986, the fact that she eloped :oO horror! That the father of her daughter's child describes himself as a redneck :oO And he's a HOCKEY PLAYER for gooness sake and BURLY to boot.

No mention of her achievements as Governor or Mayor. No mention of the fact that she has more executive experience than Obama and Biden put together. No, she's not black (or a bit dark anyway) and she's not a leftie, so the fact that her daughter is pregnant and all these other evil deeds must mean she is the spawn of satan...

I deapair.

Hereford: She also has more executive experience than John McCain. Do you think she should be the presidential candidate instead of him?

I'm lukewarm on McCain, but I cannot wait to vote for Sarah Palin. Wow!

She's also a man made climate change denier. At bloody last!!! And did you hear the sexism of PM just now, suggesting that she only got the spot because she's a woman? Hmm try suggesting to the BBC that Obama got the nomination because he's black and wait. What's that high pitched roaring sound? Is it a braking train coming down the tracks? Is it rolling thunder? No it's the BBC Obama boys and girls squealing in unison at the appalling slander against their favourite American.

Yes, sure thing, I'm convinced about her two. The picture I'm now getting of this feisty heartthrob running-mate is of a woman who fights for Alaska during the day, cooks an eland beefsteak for her family in the evening from the animal they shot at the weekend for that very purpose. A truly rugged and romantic American family who millions in the nation can relate to.

On the subject of 'energy blackmail' derailing global politics, I am sure you will be thrilled to know, Melanie: Vladimir Putin made a despicably fascist proposition to the Azeri president Aliev in Baku the other day. If you sell oil to our Gazprom, we'll pay you the current world market price for it. Wow ! You see, Putin will not have to bomb the BTC pipeline because the US is handing him politically 'cheaper' opportunities. I am afraid Palin's pipe-laying heroics won't make much difference until someone figures a way to dril the State Department heads for stupidity and selling it to the Russians as honey at $3 a barrel.

One factual note - the pipeline capacity is 4.5 billion cu. ft./day, not 4.5 million cu. ft. For those of you who think metric, that is about 47 billion cu. M per year.

And all of those flyover states that are regularly dissed by the MSM, well for many years the highest rates of secondary education achievement have been Midwest states, including Minnesota. So I am sure that they are thrilled at being portrayed by NBC, among others as a bunch of yokels.

The situation with respect to Russian oil needs to be looked at from the Russian perspective too. Russia was effectively a broken country during the Yeltsin era but since Putin exploited Russia's vast oil and gas potential, the country is now booming economically, especially Moscow. However, by Russia's nationalisation of almost all the oil industry, European and U.S. companies have been marginalised somewhat. So, Putin has been bad for the west but is a godsend for the Russians who were virtually bankrupt in the Yeltsin period. As for NATO expansion round Russia's borders this is also easy to analyse through the Russian perspective. If Russia or China had plans to place an anti-missile shield in Chile, Nicaragua or Peru, could you imagine what hysteria would be provoked in the U.S.? Since Russia is now possibly re-asserting itself as a global power, it will naturally counter NATO expansion. It cannot be stressed enough, however, that if the Republicans (and maybe Democrats) continue to try to squeeze and isolate Russia by splitting ties between Moscow and the E.U., this could be disastrous for Israel. It could mean Russia expanding trade ties with the Middle East as well as the sale of arms to Iran and Syria. Possibly even the strategic location of nuclear missiles within the Middle East to counter NATO expansion. However dark a horse Putin may be, he does seem to have pulled off a miracle in restoring a part of Russia's historic status as a world player. Alaska once belonged to Russia too.

Charles, Charles, Charles ... you know nothing about women, do you? If you think Hillary supporters are going to vote for Governor Palin, you have been missing all the clues. Hillary supporters are against everything Governor Palin stands for.

Chew on that thought and see if you can figure things out.

Steve writes: "McCain is opposed to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska..." Do you have the foggiest idea of how big Alaska is? 586,400 sq miles. The Wildlife Refuge is something like 38,000 sq miles.

Hereford, I understand that Governor Palin's husband is deeply ashamed of being the only redneck in N America who has only been stopped once for drunk driving.

Alaska might help. But far more important is developing consciousness of what a free country is and why it is worth fighting for.

Once we understand that, we will be prepared to make some sacrifices. Everyone in the free democracies should be prepared to put subsidise an independent energy economy. If necessary we should be prepared to subsidise wind, wave, solar, clean coal and other forms of home grown energy to make sure that we are never dependent on dictators.

Hereford is correct.

The polls show that 25% of Hillary voters are going with McCain/Palin. Not only are those 25% voting GOP, but they are doing it to punish the DNC and Obama for taking the nomination from their candidate.

It was delegate voter fraud.

These PUMA voters are also WORKING to sway voters to vote for McCain-Palin, via internet, telephone, and door to door.

Every attack against Palin reminds these angry women about the unfair attacks against Hillary.

They say, "A vote for Sarah is a proxy vote for Hillary".

They want a McCain presidencey so Hillary can run in 2012.

Hell hath all fury and all that...

The normal people in the country went wild for Sarah the minute we heard her story and qualifications.

She is everything Americans admire.

The Leftoids have to destroy her fast or watch their shadow-and-mirrors candidate deflate before their eyes.

Their hate is so apparent and their panic also that it is laughable.

Many, many people in the U.S. pray and love God. Maybe He will continue to bless the country because of our faithfulness to Him. Time will tell.
