The Centre for Social Cohesion has noticed that Asghar Bukhari, the extremist who runs the Islamist Muslim Public Affairs Committee website, has now been openly glorifying terrorism (now a crime on the statute book). On a public facebook discussion forum, he said:
Muslims who fight against the occupation of their lands are ‘Mujahadeen’ and are blessed by Allah. And any Muslim who fights against Israel and dies is a martyr and will be granted paradise. The concept of Jihad is a beautiful thing, and logical to those with a sincere heart. It tells the human being to stand up and fight against those who bring evil and oppression on this earth, and by standing up - roll back that oppression until the people are free from it. There is no greater oppressor on this earth then [sic] the Zionists, who murder little children for sport...Any public attack on Islam and the Ummah is not going to be tolerated by men like me. I have dealt with these Zionists before, a veneer of reason, below which lies a crooked mind plotting and planning to extend their hatred against us.As the CSC notes, Bukhari has also funded the Holocaust denier David Irving. Despite his attempts to remove what he considers to be unambiguous examples of Jew-hatred from his site whenever they are spotted, MPACUK is suffused with such bigotry, so much so that the National Union of Students has banned it from campuses on account of this Jew-hatred. Nevertheless, as CSC researcher Robin Simcox points out, the BBC still treats the MPACUK as legitimate interlocutors:
‘Concern has previously been expressed to the BBC and other media about their continuing use of Bukhari and his organization. Despite this, they are regularly treated by the BBC and other mainstream media as representative of mainstream Muslim opinion,’ Simcox said.Surely there are now clear grounds for prosecuting Bukhari – even if the BBC will never get the point?

December 22nd, 2008 12:20pmProsecute him for what? If everyone who criticised a country was prosecuted, half the population would be in jail.
And its not 'Ashok' which is a Hindu name.

December 22nd, 2008 12:59pmIt is boring but necessary work to highlight these people and their lies .It is also necessary to acknowledge that we are at war with them ,their war not ours-we will never persuade them to think otherwise and to continue to indulge them makes us foolish to the extreme . If and when the Muslim community rise up against them we will have a better world and not until .
Another Phil
December 22nd, 2008 1:56pmProsecute him? Why? Freedom of speech requires the freedom to say things that offend us. He should be free to say what he wants, and so should David Irving.
Winston Smith
December 22nd, 2008 1:58pmAdam, how about religious hatred for starters? Then again, that won't happen as the incitement to Religious Hatred Bill was passed to protect Islam form scrutiny.
As long as the UK has Dhimmis like yourself, Islamisation is inevitable.
If you cannot see anything wrong in what he has written then you won't understand when I say; if he has this idea of how Muslims should act towards Jews in Israel, then what are his beliefs to Jews in the UK and Non Muslims, the kuffar?
This is nothing more than Hate speech, from a prominent member of the Muslim community, no doubt a source of information for the government.
All I can say is your remarks are unbelievable.

December 22nd, 2008 2:26pmI am with the BBC. This man's opinion's do represent mainstream Moslem views in the UK.
He also has a great defence in law: Guilty but insane.

December 22nd, 2008 2:30pmAdam, prosecute him for glorifying terrorism, not criticising a country. I take it you mean Israel. Of which about three quarters of "real people" ( as opposed to academics and phonies ) firmly support.
But it wont happen. Lets face it, within weeks of the law coming into effect, George Galloway had stood up in Trafalgar square and declared "I glorify terroriusm..."
As we know, a ton of bricks did not descend on the mendacious midget. Though it still puzzles me how he can go about his daily business and not get all manner of bricks kicked out of him by members of the public.

December 22nd, 2008 3:24pmam saddened adam by the use of your name on a site where ADAM B is respected-let me at least make it plain that it is not him who has made such an outrageous statement .David Irving has been dealt with elsewhere ,I hope you are not advocating his message should be put about here.as "another phil" seems to think is right -How about both of you finding other pseudonyms ,I certainly do not want any confusion .

December 22nd, 2008 6:40pmwhat utter rubbish...who said that standing up against the injustices of israel and defending ur land equates to 'glorifying' terrorism. Stop trying to manipulate the word melanie. No one in their right mind would take the center for social cohesion seriously.

December 22nd, 2008 9:13pmhmm yeah your right mel let's prosecute him, freedom of speech for one and not the other eh?
Jessie Pope
December 22nd, 2008 9:18pmyeah what about the following-
what about anyone who supported the French Resistance in World War II aren't they also glorifying ‘terrorism’. And Ronald Reagan glorified ‘terrorism’ when he honoured the Afghan Mujahedeen who fought the Russian occupation.

December 22nd, 2008 10:52pmThere are many clones of Hitler roaming our world (and some are leaders of nations). This Bukari character is one of them. When so called "free" speech is telling people to "kill" infidels..then just remember Hitler and his gang of butchers said the same about all "non Ayrans". If left to their own design these evil, despicable men cause millions to die. Witness this crocodile Ahamdinjihad!
Winston Smith
December 23rd, 2008 1:25amHow about we change the word Jews for Blacks and Palestinians for whites?
I'm reading, in utter bewilderment, the comments by 'Another Phil'. Sure let's have free speech all around, with no restriction shall we? Let's all openly advocate the killing of certain races and religions shall we? And when we've whipped up a frenzy amongst the population and they've decided to bring down retribution upon them, we're ok as it was 'FREE SPEECH'?
There is a huge difference between denying the Holocaust and openly advocating the murder of Jews or are you unable to see this?
And Sarah(6:40) do you know anything about the history of Islam or Palestine? Do you also not know that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East? Do you know as well that Israel still provides Energy and jobs to Muslims who are trying desperately to kill them? Do you not think that there would be peace in Israel if the Palestinians stopped attacking Israel(Hamas) with intent to completely wipe them off the face of the Earth? And the problem with your last statement "No one in their right mind would take the center for social cohesion seriously." is in fact wrong. They do, as they take the words of Mullahs in Mosques and Madrassas all around the country seriously who advocate the murder of Homosexuals and Kuffar.
I'm amazed by the writings of people here who have no idea that they are Dhimmis, defending this man's use of free speech who is praising Palestinians who kill Jews.
I think you should take a trip to Jihadwatch.org and read up on Islam and Palestine, before you put finger to keyboard. I would also suggest that you look at the recent laws on Hate Speech as well in the UK. I would recommend that you browse the Incitement to Religious Hatred Bill as well while you're at it, as it certainly confirms what the speaker said as incitement to hatred.
Boy, you people, you should really think before you right. That would really help.

December 23rd, 2008 9:59amMorality: the definition of good and evil comes from the Torah as given to the Jewish people by G-d at Mount Sinai. It is absolute, perfect, unchanging and relevant in every generation and every society. Moral relativism results when the generation bases morality upon what is generally acceptable within society or when it is dictated by the current government in power. If you would like to know what happens when society adopts the notion of moral relativism then all you need do is read Jessie Pope's repulsive comments. Moral relativism is a road that leads straight to the gas chambers. The Nazi government in Germany truly believed that they were morally justified for the good of the whole world, to wipe out the Jews and their Torah from the planet. Moral relativism is at the core of anti-Semitism, Anti-Zionism and the inability of the West to identify and defend itself against absolute evils such as Wahhabi Islam.

December 23rd, 2008 11:34amAsghar Bukhari has said nothing wrong - neither has he glorified anything.
If someone broke in to your home; slayed your family; threw you out, then you would not be a rational human being if you did not fight back. This is only sensible.
We, as the British, went to a world war for less. Why should this be any different?
Tehan Aleliwi
December 23rd, 2008 11:41amWe have to be careful about freedom of speech, and murdering innocent people it does not matter wich part of the world they are living, see Adam and another Phil, where are you living? in Europe white skin, left wing liberals? you guys thing people should say what they want because it doesn't affect you? that is too selfish, you have to understand that their are under educated young people who can be brain wash easily, and could do bad things to themselves and to other people, enviroment, economy, and that means they are not going to be heroes, but they will harm themselves and others, if people like Bukhari, David Irving, George Galloway etc don't have anything good to say they should keep it silent!
Winston Smith
December 23rd, 2008 2:38pmFrank Owen:
First off, anything that is in the Guardian is left wing propaganda for the minorities and of course Islam. Are you seriously trying to sway my opinion by giving me links to a newspaper(communist) that is all about promoting the destruction of Britain, its values culture and heritage? Do you really think I'm going to read a newspaper that allows people like Osama Saeed, who sees no objection to the return of the Caliphate? Do you really think I'm going to use the Guardian newspaper other than to start a fire with(only if I find a copy of it in the street as I certainly won't buy one). And really, I have no interest in reading anything from the dhimmi Seth Freedman and couldn't care whether he's lived in Jerusalem for two years or not. You can be sure that if he writes for the Guardian then he's certainly left wing and anti Israel.
And regarding homosexuals, the Christian Church may disagree with it but they do not tell their followers to kill them. There's a big difference in that.
It seems Frank Owen that you really are posting on the wrong website. As a good dhimmi, who's in bed with the Guardian, widely known to be Britain's leading socialist/communist/anti British/Anti West/Anti Jewish/pro minority/pro Islamic newspaper. You like good Muslims have allowed yourself complete and total indoctrination and if you do wake up and snap out of the 'brainwash' you will see just how wrong your stance on life's issues(especially Islam) has been totally and utterly wrong.
Maybe you should think about posting on the Guardian blogs, as you're nothing more than a screaming Lord Haw Haw on here, who continually attacks Melanie Phillips, because she isn't a left wing looney like yourself. Thank God.

December 23rd, 2008 6:10pmThis is utterly riddiculous. I am very very worried about by what Melanie is advocating here. If only she understood the freedoms that she is so willing to dispense with. I believe that Asghar is trying to give the Palestinians a voice which is forever being drowned by the likes of Melanie.

December 23rd, 2008 6:20pmAbdul Haq-cant remember anytime she advocated killing Muslims ,can you?unlike the man with no hands or the throat slitters.cant remember we Brits threatening Muslims either .we just ask for a little respect for our traditions and religions and a little peace too .

yeah what about the following-
what about anyone who supported the French Resistance in World War II aren't they also glorifying ‘terrorism’. And Ronald Reagan glorified ‘terrorism’ when he honoured the Afghan Mujahedeen who fought the Russian occupation."
NO, because neither the French resistence nor the Afghan Mujids of the time attacked innocent third-parties ( such as civilians ) but concentrated on fighting their respective German and Russian enemies. Its a very simple distinction, one even a person who begins a comment with "Yeah" ought understand.

December 23rd, 2008 7:25pmAbdul,
You say 'Many of her comments about Muslims are tantamount to incitement to hatred'
An example or two (from the 'many') would help move the debate along surely?

December 23rd, 2008 10:58pmSo if it's o.k." to fight against the occupation of their lands",then surely it must be o.k. for the British to fight against the occupation of Britain by such as Mr.Bukhari......errrrm. no that would be racist wouldn't it ?

December 24th, 2008 10:24pmWhat rocks did some of these left-wing kooks crawl out from under?
No intelligent person with a whit of common sense would be swayed by some of their ridiculous comments.
Surely, it's obvious that there is a difference between free speech and speech that encourage people to kill other people for political and religous reasons.
Lee Laurie...your comment was right on. The UK, unfortuately, has been occupied...colonized by Islamic Arabs. I hope we can stop it from happening here.
Adam B.
December 25th, 2008 12:03amJessie Pope, what a silly argument. Are you incapable of seeing the difference between targeting innocent civilians, (terrorism)and targeting the military of tyrannical regimes like the Nazis? And just to clarify, "Adam" is not me!
Lee Laurie
December 26th, 2008 9:22amPifili & An American.....my age meant that I lived through the era of 'de-colonisation' in British history and, broadly, supported the return of colonies to home rule.I even supported the right of Israel to exist, and still do....despite losing a family member to 'Jewish extremism' in 1946.I dare say that there aren't many of the left wing luvvies shouting their support for Palestine etc.who can claim that sort of background.
I cannot understand this support that the left has for the destruction of the British way of life.Perhaps someone who does support it could give us their reasons.Don't just come on to sites such as this and rave on,hurling accusations of racism etc.Just give me reasonable explanations for their stance.
Ronnie
December 27th, 2008 10:01amWe have all our loudly-proclaimed anti-terrorist legislation which seems only to be used against opposition politicians and Icelandic banks.
Whatever happened to all the old, tried and tested charges - incitement, conspiracy, simple breach of the peace...? I seem to remember that you could make a complaint about this sort of thing and it would be investigated and charges made, if appropriate.
For whatever reason and no matter by whom, we cannot just let our existing laws be ignored. If nothing else this is a matter of civilised public order, notwithstanding the political and religious elements of 'the case'. It has very little to do with free speech, which is assumed.
We have not lost this 'culture war' as some put it, we are simply not fighting it on our own terms as a society.
R McKie
December 27th, 2008 12:41pmI agree with Buhkari's statement:
'It tells the human being to stand up and fight against those who bring evil and oppression on this earth, and by standing up - roll back that oppression until the people are free from it.'
We in the west will also stand up and fight those who bring evil and oppression to us! If fanatical Islamists want a fight, I am sure that there are plenty of us in the west who will ensure they get one! Do not think that because our politicians have no spine that we, the people, do not...we wish to live in peace but are not afraid of defending our freedom.
G Elis
December 28th, 2008 1:45pmWhen we have politicians like this in the west who are soft like marshmallows, the public will get angry, off course one day they can fight for their freedom!

December 29th, 2008 4:25pmR McKie and G Elis,
I hope you are right about people defending their freedoms.
After the latest election...I have my doubts. Americans are so completely naive, ill-informed and ignorant of what is in store for them.
The American voters have let the fox is in their chicken house.

December 30th, 2008 2:28amLee Laurie,
I don't think the left can give you the explanation you need.
They are myopic and are incapable of seeing the destruction they are creating.
They truly believe that they know what is best for all of us...and by damm, they're going to force us to obey what they believe is best for us.
I do believe that many of these 'feel good' socialists want a perfect world and believe that complete goverment control of our lives is the answer.
Socialism has always failed and it will continue to fail.
After awhile, people will be unwilling to work for and support people who are too lazy or are opportunists. Human nature is full of workers, givers, losers and takers. When the losers and takers outnumber the workers and givers...this great socialist experiment will fail.
Our founding fathers would be turning over in their grave to see what these well-meaning idiots are doing to my great country.
