A little bird tells me that the Conservative party whips' office is festooned with campaign posters for Hillary Clinton.

November 22nd, 2007 11:16pmThe Tories permanently offended the Bush/Republican administration with their comments about the ongoing Iraq war, so toadying up to the Democrats/Clinton may be one way of patching up the special relationship - which has been of monumental benefit to us from Suez onwards. More pertinently, a rapprochement with the nominally anti-war Clinton may just swing enough moslem votes Cameron's way to get him into Downing Street. (NB, it appears to have been a desire for such votes by Blackburn MP Jack Straw that cost him his job as Foreign Secretary. Condoleeza Rice took one look at Blackburn and he was sacked.)
