Although the recent terrorism prosecution of the US Holy Land Foundation which was accused of funding Hamas went belly-up when a mistrial was declared, the case nevertheless has already exposed vital and fresh information about the extent of Muslim Brotherhood infiltration of America. On the Counterterrorism blog, which has much of great importance about this trial and what it revealed about Islamist infiltration in the US, there is a summary of a special panel it held to discuss the ties between Holy Land, the Brotherhood and Hamas — which interestingly was pivotal in establishing the Brotherhood in the US.

During the course of the trial, federal prosecutors presented an array of internal Muslim Brotherhood documents from the 1980s and early 1990s that give a first-ever public view of the history and ideology behind the operations of the Muslim Brothers (known as the Ikhwan, the Group, or the Brotherhood) in the U.S. over the past four decades. These documents, accepted as valid by the defendants and admitted at trial without protest, discuss recruitment; organization; ideology; and the development of the Group in different phases in the United States. For researchers, the documents have the added weight of being written by the Ikhwan leaders themselves, rather than interpretations of secondary sources. The exhibits make four things clear:

1) Many of the existing organizations that have set themselves up as the interlocutors between the Islamic community in the United States and the outside world (including government, law enforcement, and other faiths) were founded and controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood from their inception. Many of them changed their names over time to achieve broader national acceptance.

2) The Brotherhood established a highly-structured organization with many different faces inside the United States while deliberately and continually seeking to hide the Brotherhood’s links to its front groups.

3) The agenda to be carried out by these groups in the United States in reality had little to do with the organizations’ publicly-proclaimed goals, such as protecting the civil rights of Muslims. Rather, the true goal is to destroy the United States from the inside and work to establish a global Islamist society.

4) The primary function of the Brotherhood structures, from the early 1990s forward, was to support, materially and politically, the Hamas movement in the Palestinian territories, as instructed by the office of the general guide of the Muslim Brotherhood in Cairo.

Anyone who believes that the US is somehow immune from the Islamist infiltration that has occurred in Europe will be rapidly disillusioned and alarmed by what the Holy Land proceedings have already revealed.

This week it is an international Islamic conspiracy to take over America from within. Last week it was the Arabs jumping on the "strongest horse" of Iranian power in the Middle East. The previous week it was the financial power of the Saudi Lobby lurking behind the Annapolis talks. I'm looking forward to next week's blog already.

Perhaps the death of 85,000 Iraqi citizens at the hands of the American military in the name of oil might have something to do with the Islamists' anger?

Melanie I have only recently discovered your blog, and I am writing to thank you for your clear-headed and eloquent analysis of the difficult situation in which we in the West find ourselves. Even though I grow more concerned every day, I continue to believe that our peoples will wake up to the dangers we now face--if they have beacons of wisdom that guide their way. thank you for your courage in being such a beacon. Remember Hama (Syria) in 1982? If they cannot take control of an Arab country they don't have much chance in the United States.

Hmmm, looking over the last month of this blog it appears that Israel is doomed because it has been sold down the river by the Americans with the collusion of Ehud Barak, America is doomed because the Muslim Brotherhood are destroying it from within, Australia has given into both the forces of Dhimmifascism and global warming (by voting for Kevin Rudd), Canada is a de facto sharia state, China is in league with the Islamofascists, much of Latin America is in thrall to Hugo Chavez and Europe came under the Iron Sandal many years ago with the passage of the human rights act. Since the fact that Britain is not a country worth living in has been a constant feature of Melanie Phillips' journalism since about 1992, the habitable territory of the world seems perishingly small. I suppose that we had all better start learning Japanese and praying that the dhimmis don't get there too.

Is' nt it about time we started dumoing the phrase " war on terrorism" and replacing it with a far more descriptive term such as "the war against islamic supremacism". Because that is pricisely what we are engaged however Mssr BUSH and Rice want to muddy the waters. The far greater part of the Jihad against the west is a Jihad of subversion and deceit and its aims are now clear to a large number of westerners who have examined the "religion of Peace" subversive propaganda we have been fed on a regular basis since the early nineties. However barbaric the numerous acts of slaughter against westerners perpetrated by terrorists, they do act as a smokescreen focusing our attention away from more subtle threatening issues.
