The BBC and City *ankers

Tuesday, 12th June 2007

And while we're on the subject of the BBC...Let me flag up this, which a commenter left on a post below.

Here's the BBC's perfectly fine news page on the reopening of the Royal Festival Hall (I'm off to see Alfred Brendel play there on Thursday). Blah, blah, blah, and then - wham:

Should City bankers donate a proportion of their fortunes to causes like the Royal Festival Hall?

Eh? Where did that come from? What's that got to do with the story?

It is difficult to know what to despise most about the the BBC. Their complacency? Their hypocrisy? Their bigotry? It takes a lot of effort to eliminate views (when for example was the last time you saw a programme explaining the contribution which free markets or low taxation or a reduced State makes to human progress as opposed to the need for "greater regulation [by the State]” or “more resources [for the State]” or the "importance of politics" [i.e. why politicians ought to have more control of our lives]) which are not consistent with (and let us be frank here) the sheer stupidity and nastiness of a Guardian reader vision of the world. The BBC (like all parasites of the Leftist ancien regime)are totalitarian to their fingertips. Bring on the revolution!
