I wonder if Jessica has thought of taking an A level in Geography. I think she'd do very well.

I think the worst statistic I read was last year, when I discovered that to gain an A pass in maths, you only needed a mark of 36%. Can you imagine asking a plumber round to your house to fix the boiler, only for him to tell you that whilst he was an expert plumber, there was nearly 2/3 of his trade that he failed at or of which he was ignorant?

August 14th, 2008 4:17pmThe BBC news feature reads like something from the English language edition of the Wehrmacht's 'Signal' magazine published in occupied countries during the war. New Labour and BBC propaganda kompanies in synergous harmony burying the SATS debacle in "good news" with the requisite token student bleating "I worked hard for my passes" to support the government line. Loathe what this country has turned into. Moving to France.

August 14th, 2008 6:19pmThey don't have A-Levels in the US. But given the level of literacy and geography in Britain, I don't think we can afford to laugh.
