Why I miss fight-night

Another big fight on Saturday in Vegas: Britain’s welterweight Ricky Hatton vs the accomplished American Floyd Mayweather. Victory for the four-square brickhouse banger from Manchester will, you see, have him headline-hailed back home as Britain’s finest ever — totally preposterous, of course, as were the ditto hosannahs hurrahed from the hillsides just a month ago for the talented Welsh middleweight Joe Calzaghe. Prizefighting has been awash with hyperbole ever since Kid Cain won the decision against Sugar Ray Abel all those biblical aeons ago.

I found your piece very un-patriotic, particularly the first few lines about Ricky Hatton and Calzaghe! They are top world class and DEDICATED fighters.Perhaps if you spent as much time researching boxing talent as you do reminising about the 'good old days' you might be able to educate your prehistoric being!! End of Rant!

I sort of agree with kevin mutimer, but i do think ricky hatton fought boxers when they were done,he beat the thunder from down under but he hadn't boxed in 2 yrs and he was 35 a 25 yr old kustya would have stuffed hatton END OF. And i always knew Floyd would have done him, and what happened? Floyd destroyed him. As 4 Joe Calzaghe he is something else, he has called all the fighters out and they all ran from him or asked 4 really silly money. I think joe is in the top 15 best fighters of all time.He is without a doubt the best British fighter of all time. I would put Floyd Mayweather Jr at number ONE,

I don't understand why anyone thinks Hatton is a great It's the first time he thought a really good boxer, but coz of the British public he believed his unrealistic hype, he was so sure he'd beat Mayweather then more or less disgraced himself by criticizing everything that beat him anyway.

And Ray Irving you must have been watching a completely different fight altogether but i think lying about Hattons Ability is unpatriotic not blind support of a Man who simply can't fight, he came out swinging like a sissy hoping at least a few punches would connect when you read his miss rate it was huge, i refuse to blindly support Hatton based on that he's English we deserve more a true champion, then i'll get behind him.
