Jason Yapp of Yapp Brothers is very excited about the 2007 vintage in the Rhone following barrel tastings he had last year in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Provence. The Wiltshire independent wine merchants have just released a Southern Rhone offer with three wines available for purchase in advance and in Bond.
“Our early impressions have been confirmed as the 2007 vintage in the Southern Rhône has surpassed all expectations and has delivered superbly balanced wines of great concentration with fantastic ageing potential,” said Jason.
“A warm (rather than excessively hot), dry summer combined with cool nights has produced aromatic wines of great balance and purity.”
“2007 is unquestionably a great vintage in the Rhône valley where wines were 'made in the vineyard' and one can find quality at all levels.”
The “love him or hate him” US wine writer Robert Parker has declared the 2007 Rhone vintage as the “Vintage of my lifetime.”
Whilst highly acclaimed wine writer Jancis Robinson MW, who is not prone to hyperbole, wrote on her website “Of the 2007s from anywhere that I have tasted so far, the southern Rhône looks to be the most blessed wine region of all.”
Yapp Brothers are offering the chance to get a piece of the 2007 Southern Rhone action with the following three wines:-
Châteauneuf-du-Pape: Cuvée Elisabeth Chambellan Rouge 2007,
Châteauneuf-du-Pape: Le Vieux Donjon Rouge 2007 and
from Provence, Baux: Domaine de Trévallon Rouge 2007.
