Whilst doing a spot of research for my recent article on Thierry Tomasin, sommelier extraordinaire and owner of Angelus restaurant, I came across the following in a newsletter featured on the website of wine merchants Richards & Walford :-
“und aus dem Chaos sprach eine Stimme zu mir: Lächle und sei froh, es könnte schlimmer kommen!’…und ich lächelte und war froh, und es kam schlimmer”
Which translates roughly as:-
“and out of the chaos a voice said to me: Smile and be happy, it could be worse!"... and I smiled and was happy, and it got worse”
Could this be an extract from Gordon Brown’s personal diary and is the voice Peter Mandelson?
Perhaps it refers to an address to the nation by Gordon Brown or in some eyes to a change in government following the election.
